RE: Travel: Indonesia - Batam/Bintan
Hi, may I know if it really takes 1.5 to 2 hours drive per way from Nagoya hill area to the dragon fruit farm at Rempang island?
Is it worth going? Can we go on our own via taxi or grab? -

RE: [Fun Poll] Holidays 2017 - Where You'll be Going
jetsetter:
I like to plan my long trip early and impromptu short trips in between. How come u guys can plan and book so early huh? So far my dh has thrown out a few places on impulse.
Last month we watched Jackie Chan's \"Kungfu Yoga\", so he suggested revisiting Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The only place he didn't mention was Northern Europe!
We always travel with DC so for long trips, have to add on activities and stuff that will keep them entertained. Tired and bored teenagers = grouchiness and will result in stress for everyone
I am also quite particular in accommodation, so must be \"kiasu\" and book in advance for the places I like. Short trips I can compromise.
Haha like what Dnls_mum said, why didn't your hubby think of Iceland after watching \"Kungfu Yoga\"? I watched that movie just for the Iceland scenes
So you are not going to catch NL anymore?
Anyway, my plans for this year:
- Taiwan (10 days) in June
- Norway + Lapland (3+ weeks) in Dec
- maybe Thailand or Malaysia for a short \"ladies only\" trip with my besties

RE: Northern Europe
Hi Dnls_mum
Thanks in advance for the detailed sharing and photos :rahrah:
Oh you took bus from Helsinki airport to the city? We took the train.
We only had our small day packs with us then, the luggage was checked in directly to Reykjavik.
How did you manage to sort out the photos and add in the headers in such a short time

RE: Northern Europe
Hi VooVoo
If you plan to stay over Christmas, do decide where you want to stay and book well in advance. Christmas season in Lapland is pretty popular. I booked my B&B accommodation in Rovaniemi last year Jan. When I emailed the owner in early Mar this year, they are already fully booked!
Most popular / good reviews ones are also fully booked. So do plan and book early

RE: Recommendation for hiking boots
However, if the mesh type boots get wet, the socks will be wet too and while the shoes may dry up quickly, the socks do not dry as fast and it will be uncomfortable.
It also depends if you need high ankles support. Usually high ankle boots are not light. -

I also want to butt in here! It definitely has one of the most dramatic landscapes etched in my holiday memories but to be honest, not so great a location for northern lights chase. 10 nights in winter and all I saw was 10 fleeting seconds of it....
I have to agree with you about the NL. Many people I know did not see the most fantastic show there. But who knows, Dnls_mum might have better luck

RE: Northern Europe
buds:
Which part of Norway will you be going to next, ScaredyMum?

We will start from Oslo, Bergen, Lofoten Islands and Tromso, ending the trip in Levi, Lapland for Christmas
Considered a few other locations in Norway but they will either be too dark in Dec, can't see anything at all, or too much hassle with transport during winter. -
RE: Northern Europe
IKR! I personally feel that 7 days Ring Road is not sufficient to fully absorb the beauty of the place. I hope to go back for a longer trip in other seasons.
Too many places to go/revisit, too little time and money! Haaβ¦
