dorabelle:Hi dorabelle,Hihi
my daughter currently with berries N2, 4 this year. Im trying to speak more chinese to her but she is not interested and doesnt seem to understand. We come from english speaking family where everybody speaks mostly english.....
sigh. now im trying to speak more to her and read some very simple storybooks to her. Any other parent facing the same problem and how to improve her chinese? I am worried she will have problem catching up in primary one.
She is now in 3 hrs kindy. Will putting her in full day childcare a good idea since there is a chinese teacher to speak chinese to her all day?
From my experience with my son, I kept reading the same few chinese books with him. Each time I read, I will point my finger at the words.
I also bought those poster size with simple chinese word or hanyu pinyin and paste it on his bedroom's wall. On and off, I will get him to identify the picture when I say out the word.
I also bought those books for him to practice the chinese strokes. Not the chinese character word.
Some encouragement for you, I did not read to my son chinese books till K2. Now he is in upper primary and he is copping well with chinese. Of cos, not the high flyer.
Good luck!
