    • RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)

      dorabelle:
      Hihi

my daughter currently with berries N2, 4 this year. Im trying to speak more chinese to her but she is not interested and doesnt seem to understand. We come from english speaking family where everybody speaks mostly english.....

sigh. now im trying to speak more to her and read some very simple storybooks to her. Any other parent facing the same problem and how to improve her chinese? I am worried she will have problem catching up in primary one.

She is now in 3 hrs kindy. Will putting her in full day childcare a good idea since there is a chinese teacher to speak chinese to her all day?
      Hi dorabelle,

From my experience with my son, I kept reading the same few chinese books with him. Each time I read, I will point my finger at the words.

I also bought those poster size with simple chinese word or hanyu pinyin and paste it on his bedroom's wall. On and off, I will get him to identify the picture when I say out the word.

I also bought those books for him to practice the chinese strokes. Not the chinese character word.

Some encouragement for you, I did not read to my son chinese books till K2. Now he is in upper primary and he is copping well with chinese. Of cos, not the high flyer. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Good luck!

      Appreciate help on this qn.

A basketball has a vol of 500cm cube. An air pump is used to pump in 480 cm cube of air at the start of the day. Another 40 cm cube of air is pumped into the basketball at the end of the day.

What is the new vol of air inside the basketball?

      1) 480 cm cube
      2) 500 cm cube
      3) 520 cm cube
      4) 540 cm cube.

The answer given is # 2.

I am trying to find out the explanation for my son.
Is it correct to say that even though air can be compressed, but the vol of basketball only allows 500 cm cube? Hence, the answer is 500 cm cube?

Since air is a gas, it has no fixed volume. So it will occupy whatever space is available to it. Hence if a container has a volume of 500 cubic centimetres, any gas pumped into it will occupy all that space.

      Thanks!

    • RE: School bus or public bus for Primary school pupils.

Personally, I think it depends on each child. Whether is he ready to go back on his own?

I see some kids are really street smart. But my child is not one of them. So, he will still stick to sch bus nx yr when he is p4.

    • RE: All About Life Without Maids

      Imami:
Since having a kid, the 6 weeks prior to cny is always a nightmare for me. On top of working full time, caring for the kid and regular household chores, still have dozens of things to do - buy cny decor, new plants, outstanding repair work, special/adhoc household chores (eg repainting or new wallpaper if needed? Wipe the lamp shades, decluttering, clear store etc). Cleaning the windows... Can die.... But wait, cannot die - who's going to do all these if I die?

I have been thru this for 6 yrs, n i dont bother to do a major clean up. Can die esp when u r working full time. I only clean windows n wash curtains. I dont bother to pack the house as my son will still mess up the place and I am seldom at home anyway.

But I make sure I have filled up my rice bucket. :xedfingers:

Oh, and another thing, I dont invite friends to my place. Reason is mainly I m too tired to clean up before and after friends invitation. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We work smart at work... so must also work smart at home. ๐Ÿ˜‚
