If letter says eligible for ESIS and you are applying to an independent secondary school, then confirm get.

If the letter states eligibility for ESIS, ie meet the cut off of 261, does it means that you definitely get it or still depends on the secondary school tscore ranking?

Don't be too discouraged. Whatever score you get, in Sec 1 every student is equal again because all starts from zero. Continue to work hard and enjoy learning. Meanwhile go have fun during this school hol.

My t score was lower than expected. Many of my friends also got scores lower than the expected like 240 or 23 something. However some still did well[/quote]

All the best to those getting PSLE results today. Whatever the results, this is only the beginning not the end. Celebrate small wins even if the result is below your expectations.

I'll digress a little since there were some discussion here about scores and grades.

Ronny Chieng, a successful US based stand-up comedian who spent 10 years studying in Singapore was recently interviewed by Mothership. Something that he said resonates with me and I quote,
\"I don’t know if I’m big time, but I would say in Singapore especially, I think don’t let people give you some kind of number, whether it’s a test score or ranking, school ranking or straight up exam score. Don’t let anyone give you a number and tell you that’s all you’re worth. Don’t let them do that. You’re more than just a number.\"

      Here's the full interview:

I have a gal in njc and one in nygh . Basically why njc becos she doesn't want to go all girls school . Haha ! Why Gals always have petty issues .
She enjoyed all her 6 years there . She was given lots of opportunities. CCA , she can choose what she likes .In fact she doesn't feel as stress as my 2nd gal . Who say don't score well in NJC . She scored straight A for all her subjects in last A level.

With smaller class size ( junior yr 1-2 or 1-4?) it hasnt churned out value added A level results.

My child got significant value-add can already. :boogie: Our experience was that the IP prepared well for JC & A levels .

@ryka and ski, this is someone who has multiple KSP usernames and had frequently picked fights in other JC threads (and lost terribly, hence now coming to the NJC thread to try his luck trolling). Don't bother to engage him. We, as genuine parents, are happy to share with genuine parents. But he is a nobody and a real annoyance. The best way to deal with such people is to give him the silent treatment. Don't waste your time and energy, not worth it.

End of the day, someone’s point is just to prove and convince others that NJ is no longer amongst the top schools, the standard has dropped and will drop further. Students in this school are mostly those who cannot make it to the top IP schools and likely to do not as well as compared to other IP schools.

Well even if it is true, but for me it doesn’t really matter. My child chose this school even though the kiddo can easily get into other so called top IP schools. We went in with our eyes open and we are happy with our decisions because NJ is still a decent good school and we don’t measure that just by academic performance.

      Hi Winsomelosesome,

Can you please share where did you get this information that you mentioned in your post?
      "A level results are declining.
Njc (2nd-3rd last) falls behind the rest IPs JCs, only ahead of Tjc(last)."
