      Hi bb1009,

There is a SA2 at end of P2. Kids are tested on oral, compo, listening comprehension & language use for Eng &'MT & Math. Overall weightage is 30% if I remember correctly.

Allocation to P3 classes are grouped based on academic performance - 50% high ability & 50% mixed ability. Within the respective group, kids' class allocation is done randomly. P3/4 are promoted enbloc.

However, even if your child is allocated to a mixed ability class in P3, do not be saddened. If the child performs in P3, there is still a chance to be placed in a high ability class. I got to know this when I was told by my DD1 that some of such students joining her class in P4 next year.

What I like about this sch is that they do not practice ranking within the class. I like it this way as I finds it alleviates unnecessary competition amongst the kids.

Hope this info is useful to you ๐Ÿ˜„

Hi parents, would like to find out more on the holistic assessment at ypts. I heard the HA here are tougher compare to others schools.

Would appreciate if parents could share their views.

      Thanks!
      Hi,

      I hv 2 kids currently studying in YTPS, P1 & P3.

The HA program actually consists of written & non written assessments done throughout the 4 terms.

Written consists of bite sized tests.
Non-witten - eg, listening compre, show & tell, reading, etc

Both my kids had a pretty carefree P1/P2 HA experience as there are actually no CAs or SAs until last term of P2 where kids are given a taste of what is it like to sit for a proper exams.

      Hi,

When Open House for schools are scheduled? Can anyone go to Open House or we need to register for it? Is there any open house happening for Yew Tee or Unity Primary schools please?

One more question - in the website 'http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/' what does column 'No. of children registered' means?

I have to enroll my son to P1 this year - Phase 2C, is there any chance of getting in Yew Tee or Unity Primary school?

      Thank you!!
For SC, YTPS shd be safe for 2C. In last 2 yrs, balloting for PRs within 1km.

      Hi,

I will be enroling my DD for P1 too under Phase 2C. Being a SC and stay within 1km from DLS. What are the chances of getting in without balloting? Anyone can enlighten me? YTPS is also within 1km from my place. Still in a dilemma on where to place my bet.
      Hi,

In past 2 yrs where SCs given absolute priority, YTPS got ballot for PRs < 1km, DLS, SC 1-2km. Base on this trend. SC within 1km shd b safe ๐Ÿ˜„

      Enjoy your selection process :imcool:

    • RE: Agape Little Uni

      Hi,

I have 2 kids in Agape Little Uni. Elder 1 already graduated 2 yrs ago, now in P2 & younger 1 now in K2. From my personal experience, I sheโ€™d say that the Mgt is getting worst. There was a change of top mgt about 2 yrs ago & since then, I observed that there are changes with the way things are being done. That could have affected staff morale that triggered high teacher turnover rate. Yes, a no. of good & long time teachers left all of a sudden.

My elder girl used to have very good & responsible principals & teachers. The teachers & curriculum prepared my elder child very well for transition to P1. With the good foundation built, my P2 child still can cope without any tuition. But, situation is far from ideal for my younger child now in K2. There have been changes of both her teachers & at one stage, I was worried about her progress & preparedness for P1 next year. Lucky for her, the K2s now has 2 pretty good teachers. Both are neither PRCs nor Pinoys. My younger childโ€™s progress is fast catching up. I am now praying very hard that these 2 teachers will at least complete their job (another 5 mths to go) before calling it quits, so that my younger girl can have a smooth transition to P1. Everything said, both my kids are happy kids with Agape.

I would say this CC is no longer as good as they used to be with my past 6 years experience being with them. The centre recently has appointed a new principal (yes, last Principal has left "almost quietly").

However, I think the Overall top mgt plays a big part in terms of boosting staff morale & how they want to mould the CC out to be.

Just some of my thoughts to share with you.

My kids(twins)will be starting their primary 1 with yew tee primary next year.

I read from the ytps web site that cca is offered starting from pri. 3. But enrichment programe is offered to all level starting from pri. 1. The enrichment prog is scheduled on staturday.

I saw this news recently that ytps changing principal next year.
      http://news.asiaone.com/news/edvantage/60-schools-get-new-heads-next-year-experienced-principals-heartland-schools?page=0%2C0

The news indicated that the new principal of ytps is Ms Ang Mui Khoong. Now,She is holding the position of senior quality assessor with MOE. i saw on one of the website that she was previously the principal of Coral Primary School.
      Hi,

I think it's a fresh change as current principal has been with the sch for no. of years already.

Coral Pri is in Pasir Ris....it's such a drastic move.

Kranji Pri & South View Pri also getting their principals changed. See how these changes will be for better welfare of our kids.
