    • RE: Victoria School

I think we shd not merge the topics for the time being.

The current format where the students spend two years physically at VJC In the IP pgm (at Sec 3/4 ages) before joining the JC years has its last batch in 2012. So these batches will merge into the JC yrs in 2015.

The new format where the IP starts from Sec 1 not only starts in VS it also does so in Cedar. The 50 students or so stay put in the respective schools. So even if u want to merge the topics, which sch do u want to merge with? Hence better to keep topics separate for the time being till naturally the VJC-IP phases out by 2015.

    • RE: Travel: Japan - Tokyo & Disneyland

With choice of only one park - Tokyo Disneyland vs Tokyo Disney Sea - which one would be better? Our party of four includes 2 teenagers but none of us are thrill ride - seekers, so we dont need roller coasters and such. I heard the queues are also super long at Tokyo Disneyland. R things better at Disney Sea? Oso are the rides/attraction more suitable for the less thrill seekers? THANKS!

      Hi,

I'm very interested in TKGS's MEP programme (heard that it's really good) and I've put it as one of my choices. Can anyone tell me more abt the MEP?

      Thx in advance 😄
my girls didnt do the MEP. Besides indicating the interest during I think the posting, sometime when the term starts, the interested applicant need to go for a test before they admit you on the pgm. When the child does the MEP, they wont do Home Econs and D&T subject in sec 1 and 2. In sec 3,4 the MEP becomes an additional subject to the normal 8 O lvls. Hope this helps. BTW its open house today.. sorry info may be too late... haha.. 😄

    • RE: London School of Economics (LSE) or NTU Double Degree

The brand name of LSE is good, but then again, u need to consider the costs vs the value. NTU may be ranked lower, but she is doing a useful double degree Accountancy and Biz. Presumably this may be difficult to get in and might be valued by employers here ? Economics - well, i always felt is a more academic subject. On employer’s stdpoint , they may not pass over local grads for ovs grads, mainly cos even with a brand name, unless the grad is outspoken, has a first class or second class upper, etc. Also depends on what career/route yr niece will like to embark on. If she wants to go on sthing further academic, work ovs or be employed in the local industry.

If yr niece is craving for ovs exposure, i think nowadays uni has a fair nr of opportunities to go on ovs attachmts (of cos will cost $$). As for training to be independence, can also ask her to stay in ntu hostel- no need to fly to UK. These could be viable cheaper alternatives.

    • Where to find Temp /Parttime jobs for 15 year old girls ?

Can anyone share on what can 15 yr olds do for temp or parttime jobs and any contacts ? My girl is keen for some exposure but i do not know what is available for her age, and her time availability - shortterm, more during vacation time.

In my opinion, best if there are one-off 2-3 day expo sales type of jobs, but we dont know how to go about finding out and getting these jobs. Thanks!

    • RE: Lasagna- how to prepare with local ingredients

      mrswongtuition:
      Easy to prepare:

      - Buy bottled spaghetti sauce
      - Lightly fry chopped large onions, minced meat (you can use any meat you like), chopped vegetables (carrots, celery, etc)
      - Add in the spaghetti sauce. Do not dilute unless you bought concentrated sauce. Let it simmer until vegetables are soft.
      - In an aluminium/glass tray (must be suitabe for baking), spread a thin layer of your sauce at the bottom, place a lasagna sheet, spread another layer, place a lasagna sheet, and carry on until you filled the tray. The top layer should be SAUCE. Sprinkle with cheese (I normally use a mixture of parmesan & mozarella but it's up to you).
      - Bake in the oven until cheese turns light brown.

There's another version using white sauce instead of the tomato sauce that you can get easily from supermarkets. 🙂

WHAT Brand of Lasagne is good? I see a few brands in the mkt.

    • RE: Thermal pot

if we heat the inner pot for stew etc and put into the outer pot to cook, how long can we leave it there?

Wd the food turn bad or wd it overcook, if we say we do it from early morning and then eat 12-14 hrs later for dinner ? Reason is no one wd be at home to take the pot out.
