Fur-ma, I know how you feel now. I had gone through the same fears and anxiety years ago. You are at least of the luckiest to receive the SHHK recommendation letter. As for me, no letter given (no reason given) and that close my phase 2B chance. 2C was a nightmare and was ballot out. 2C(S) was my last hope and my greatest fear should this phase out- thrown again. Thanks God, he’s in for 2c(S). Another good news after a few months, I got a call from ATS and my kid transfer appln was successful.

KCPPS and Marymount are good schools that produce national results as well. Weigh your chances and the risk % and I am sure all is not end yet.

I am feeling very confused. We are eligible to register for AT or KCPPS under 2B. If we fail to ballot successfully for AT, then confirm cannot get into KCPPS at 2C cos we are outside 2km. Then if we fail to get into AT at 2C, dd would probably end up in another school that is very inconvenient for us in terms of public transport. Although I intend to put her on the school bus, I need to anticipate days when I may need my maid to fetch her home if she is sick or she needs to go early / stays back for activities. I can put her on waiting list for transfer to AT but there is never any guarantee that she can be transferred (AT tells me that there are more than 200 on wait list for transfer).

The rational decision to make would be to register at KCPPS and forget AT. But I feel so so sad that I have to give it up after spending so much time and effort to get shhk's letter of recommendation. I am so jealous of my neighbour who is a SAHM and can fetch her kid if he ends up in a school further away in the event he fails to get into AT. There is less at stake for her than for us.

      What should I do 😒

      :hugs: sure is a headache.

I think you should try for AT. you got the shhk recommendation letter which is hard to come by! You have 2 ballot slips at 2B. If that fails, you have another 2 ballot slips at 2C. (Erm, maybe monitor the numbers on the 2nd day of 2B la!)

If you talk about public tpt, fr sin ming to KCPPS is actually not so convenient. Either must change bus at interchange, or walk fr interchange to sch, or take a big bus loop.

It's a gamble. But if you never try, you'll be looking at AT longingly for the next 6 years.

But you if don't opt for AT, i can also give you some reasons to comfort you! Ha ha, i have many friends whose kids fr AT. The displeasure and complaints i hear fr them ....

I suppose displeasure and complaints are something that is happening in every schools and even workplace as well.

I think I can forget about Ai Tong liao. By the time 2A2 completes, likely to be only single digit place for 2B. The odds of getting in are reduced to πŸ™ πŸ™

I would say what you see is a mix of students who do stay as far as Punggol and as near as Bishan. This happens to my DS classmates. At the end of the day, I suppose you will need to weigh the pros and cons in circumstances that directly affect you.

    • RE: How do you store your kids photos?

      1. Primary backup - Hard copies.

No doubt it may fade over time, but photo restoration technology is available. Yes, agreed it takes time and $$ to print and arrange the photos. Maybe, looking at a different perspective, we should be thankful and grateful that we have all these happy and tedious task to do.

      AND

      2. Secondary backup - External harddisk or/& CDs.

I have also uploaded the albums to my ipad and I can view them anytime and anywhere.

Yes I also stated tat I prefer a co-ed school with a more chinese environment and culture...

Did you attempt to register your children for ATS in any of the phases initiallY?

I only stated one reason - school closer to home. πŸ˜„

I did not attempt to register my child at ATS for any of the intial phases. I don't think it makes a difference nor get you any preference. Someone I know even got an MP to write a referral letter and it didn't make a difference.

I suppose you may want to include more information of your child such as music achievements, good results progress in kindergarten and positive remarks (academic and character). This will make your application stand out from the rest.

      Good luck πŸ™‚

just curious, this year CH sec, wats the COP for outsiders and for its own primary sch kids?

We won't know what's the COP for outsiders, but for affiliated pri sch kids, it has been set at a minimum of 230, unless demand in this category very very high lah.

Last known COP is 240 for Catholic High (pri) and 250 for external students.

Hi all, thought to share the updates I got on the move... but nothing is firmed yet... tried to ask school but they refused to confirm, just claim they don't know...

The info I got is ATS will move to a holding school in AMK area for P3-6 (am session) and the P1 & 2 (pm session) would stay in the Sin Ming campus while they upgrade... Probably move in 2012... we shall wait for school to confirm this next year...
It's quite unlikely that the lower and upper sessions will be split in different temporary place as it would make administration very difficult. This is in terms of teachers' meeting, general office matters and other logistics arrangement. Coupled with that, safety would be top consideration when comes to upgrading. It's quite impossible allow P1 and P2 to stay in an upgrading-in-progress environment.
