munasvb\" post_id=\"2130221\" time=\"1709545768\" user_id=\"204173:Thank you very much to all parents here. Most of my information and learning about being a Singaporean mum is from here! I have read the above and understand that the following will be considered when looking to transfer school in Sec 2/3:1. PSLE results (it should be around the same results as the school's entry for eg) to enter St Nics you need 250, so your PSLE score should first and foremost be around there. We were Returning Singaporeans so my daughter didn't sit for PSLE, instead SPERS-Sec (School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans). So my daughter doesn't have PSLE results. How will this matter when she is trying to apply for school transfer?2. She is in N/A and got an average of 65% (5% short of 70% to transfer to Express). She is working very hard this year to try and get 70% average. 3. She is in Fencing as her CCA and has represented school etc4. She is well loved by teachers and heads and even asked to be Student Leader, Class Monitor etc.5. She is asking for school transfer for 2 reasons: a) it takes her 1 hour to travel from Kembangan to Chung Cheng High Yishun. To and fro its 2 hours a day. After her CCA that ends at 630pm, she gets home 7.30/8pm and still has homework to do. She is very exhausted. She wants to save travel time so she can study harder.b) As we lived overseas all her life, she accent, character and dressing style is different from her fellow classmates. She has been labelled and made fun of, even things about her have been posted online by classmates and schoolmates. She is not bullied but it is a form of mental bullying with all the online comments. I have seen it myself and spoke to school about it. it's a problem as these kids all open pseudo accounts to blast such things and we can't trace who the accounts belong to. She studies very hard as she really wants to do well and get out and transfer. QUESTION:Understands transfers are based on availability of school, her PSLE (non in our case), her Sec 1 and Sec 2 results, her CCA & achievements, and a possible entrance exam.Is there a way to appeal with MOE especially due to distance, for my daughter to be transferred to a nearer school. She has succumbed to the fact that even when she transfers school - she might still be made fun of, but at least she will have more time to study. She aspires to just do really well in her studies and that's her form of 'revenge' to other kids making fun of her. I am really worried for my daughter's mental health seeing all these things posted online about my daughter, things people are saying to her physically etc. I know it is affecting her too. As a mother, I need to find a way to resolve it or I can't forgive myself for not trying to find a way for her. Your suggestions are really appreciated in advance.Hello dear. Let me try to answer based on what i know:1. Since she took the SPERS exam, she would have received a list of schools that her results qualified her for? So those are the schools that she can transfer to.2. That is her current school’s internal stream transfer criteria. The new school that she is seeking transfer to may not allow her to go directly into Express as it may be two major changes for her (school envt + academic envt). Do check with the school first before u commit.3. Pasir Ris Crest Sec has a good Fencing CCA i believe (they are one of the few schools that took in DSA Fencing candidates). Do try that school if she qualifies. It’s in the East nearer to your home.U dont have to wait till end of sec 1 or sec 2 to seek a transfer, if u have compelling reasons like bullying. Just email the school(s) to check if they have a vacancy now; for NA it is possible that they can take her in now. Atb!
