HCI 2022 a level cohort is 1095, still less than RI.
      Yes I know.

I just want to say the difference is not as big as 20%. That's all.

Honestly, I am in awe of how well the students from both school have performed. Especially if we were to consider the fact that 2022 A level cohort happened to be the covid cohort (started JC in 2021, the height of covid restrictions) so this results is really a testament to their tenacity and hardwork. Really well done.

What I heard from the HCI principal was, number students are around 300 to 350 from each of the 3 sources (HCI high, NYG , JAE) so total cohort size work out to be around 900 to 1050. If your source says 1089, probably this year they take in more?

It seem like, if in any particular year these 2 colleges intake deviate by 50 students towards each other, then it could well be within 100 students difference only. Maybe more often than not the intake numbers will swing by big margin
FYI: NYGH cohort is close to 400 each year

RI has published that 1126 is the number of students who took A-levels in 2022. We don’t know the number for HCI, they also did not state the mean of this cohort.[/quote]
I know 2023 J1 cohort size is not direct comparison to 2022 J2 size. But cohort size should not differ too much from year to year so the difference between RI and HCI in terms of cohort size is probably just around 100.

The mean of 2022 HCI A level cohort is 85. HCI sent an email to its students to announce this.

HCI college total intake around 1000, whereas RI is around 1200. 20% difference
2023 J1 intake for HCI is 1089. While I do not have the specific figure for RI, you mentioned 2022 J2 for RI is 1126. So I feel the difference in terms of cohort size should be at most 100. In reality, probably fewer than 100.

Hi, just to check. Any kids applied to smtp and have gotten back results? Thanks …
Yes the successful IP kids have received the offer already. I think today is the deadline for them to decide if they want to accept it.

H3s read and offered at the local universities - yes this can potentially count towards the modular credits requirements for uni (depending on course), if you eventually end up going to the uni you read the H3 in. Please don't consider this aspect as an advantage, it's only at most, 1 module.

MOE H3s - no they are not likely to count towards any degree requirement in Singapore. For UK universities, most don't even know what H3s actually are (they are an MOE invention so to say, and unique to Singapore). If you want any exemptions in US universities, or you want to prove/demonstrate academic competence, you are probably better off taking APs privately. Many NUS High students take APs. As the name suggests, they are Advance Placements.

There are many ways to demonstrate academic prowess if that is the way you want to build your own CV, and personally, my view is that H3s is probably the route that requires the most effort and it is not the way to stand out. If you want to stand out, go participate in a hackathon or essay writing competition - do something different. H3s are not a scholarship requirement. Nowadays, scholarship boards like to see kids taking their own initiative or doing something different. H3s allow students to engage with a subject more deeply - interest is key, without which, you may drop it along the way as it is tedious and time consuming. Also, it does not usually overlap or reinforce the H2 content (some subjects more than others).
Not true that UK universities do not know what H3 are. Quite a few, including Oxbridge, gives out conditional offers requiring a Distinction in certain H3 subjects. It all depends on whether the H3 subject taken is relevant to the uni course applied.

How about office workers going to work, driving down that stretch of Bukit Timah Road, also creating traffic jam ?

You reach office, what time ?
      8.30 am ?
Just stating a fact that the road is not as jammed for nygh students as the school starting time is later. This is based on my own observation.

      35 minutes is
      because

now is December, school holiday time. No students going to school. Thus, entire Bukit Timah Road not much traffic now, because is school holiday.

When school Term re-open in January 2023, different story (scenario) !
When u step out of Botanic Gardens mrt Station to catch a bus, that road is so heavy traffic jam,

      Because

many parents cars are turning left, into Nanyang primary school. This created a bottle neck, at the traffic light junction.

Test it out, when school Term re-open soon ! Because of the very bad jam, u will need to allocate much more time, than just 35 minutes !
NYGH starts school at 8:15am so students can avoid the peak jam period of between 7am to 7:30am.
