    • RE: seeking recommendations to improve focus & concentration

Other than counselling, one possibility for helping children to improve focus and concentration is letting them to attend therapeutic play session.

      What is therapeutic play service?
therapeutic play service is a method of helping children with behaviour and emotional problems to help themselves. Play is the child’s natural medium of self expression - it’s essential for development. It is providing opportunity for the children to ‘play out ‘ their feelings and problems with a therapeutic objective.

Who is therapeutic play service intended for?
therapeutic play service is suitable to help children who have difficulties in emotions (e.g., express feelings), conduct (e.g., follows rules), hyperactivity (e.g., attention), and peer (e.g., relationship with others) issues.

I am a trainee therapeutic play practitioner and offering free services for kids. Anyone out there who is concerned that your own kids have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties; I can send you the free screening test, then you fill up and send it back to me. I will share the results with you without obligation. It is up to decide whether you would like to try the therapeutic play service. Please pm me for more details. Thank you!

    • RE: How to motivate your child to read independently?

As for me, I think it is by making it as a habit to read books for the children starting from very young age.

Personally I enjoy reading as both of my parents love reading. I think that parents does play a vital role to encourage the child to pick up book to read.

No point forcing. Just set up a routine where all family members sit down to sit something. The child will get used to it and learns to read independently.
