RE: 2012 P1 Registration Exercise for 2013 In-Take
Hi mummies,
I need some advise, I am under P2C within 1km for 2 schools, prefer school A that is walking distance but it is more popular than the school B. My questions are: -
1) will they announce how many seats are left for P2C after P2B? If yes, when will they announce?
2) can I call the school to check the status prior to registrating? Will they tell us how many SC or PR and their distance category(1KM. 1km-2km etc) and whether balloting is require?
3) is it advisable to wait till the last day to register? -

RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
Monster Mummy:
Hi,
My kid is 8 years old, I should be lucky as he is quite easy with change. Maybe since young he has encountered Many changes like teacher and classes. But for my young, it might be a risk for me but if no choice I would still try to convince her. The young need to persuade.
U r so lucky, is he enjoying at the new center?
I tot the younger they are the easiler to change their classes, once they enter into PS, more tough to persuade them just like my nephew. -

Monster Mummy:
Hi Monster Mummy,Hi,
I agreed with you of changing the school but if the system doesn't work for them we may need to find out the root cause. Yet,I know sone parents did expect to see improvement else they will source another centre. For me, I have change for my boy as well especially I feel that he need more intensive learning to keep his interest.
How old is your boy, how did you convince him to change to another center? -

RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
Anyone knows any good CL tutor to reco, pls PM me. Thank you.
here’s to reply the PM I have received since the questions are similar…
1) My sis said my nephew was with the same TH teacher in K level and only changed to another teacher in PS level. For Berries, have changed twice the teachers in both K level and PS level. From her observation, the few TH teachers was there for years, berries has more younger teachers that comes and go.
2) TH material is based on MOE so more relevant to PS.
3) TH gave spelling and 4 term tests since K2, Berries don’t give spelling but have tests starting in P2 Jun & Dec.
4) TH have show & tell starting K1, Berries has it mid P1.
5) After seeing the results from her 2 boys, she agreed that Berries is over-rated. -
RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
Verysuperkiasu, you are right on the sibling rivalry…
I hv received a lot of pms, hv gathered them and asked my sis & nephews and think I better post these info here and hope they are useful.
1) my nephews are in TH JP and Berries Bt Batok
2) both have good partnership with the teachers, don’t think it is nice to put the teachers name here.
3) my sis very potato, can’t coach her own boys in CL, she doesn’t want to put 2 eggs in the same basket so chosen separate schl for them.
4) TH in K2 will start to prepare the kids for P1 based on MOE syllabus.
5) TH has only 1 teacher, Berries has 1 teacher and 1 assistant teacher in K1 & K2.
6) some asked what is my sis comment on berries, my sis feel it is not nice to post negative feedbacks, she can share good info like TH covered the MOE syllabus and made her boy all rounder in CL and berries made lesson interesting for kids.
Hope this helps. -
RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
Tot I should share here.
My sis wanted best of both world so put twins boy in berries & tien hsia separately from K1 to P3. They are in the same school and same class now. Her boy in TH has good score above 95, represented the school for many CL competitions. Accordingly to my sis, TH has ‘speech & drama’ presentation for kids to perform to the parents so he gained the confidence and can speak well. Furthermore, TH goes with the MOE teaching so her boy was well exposed to what was needed for Primary school. Her Boy in berries score around 65. She has a headache cos berries boy refuse to change to TH so she engaged another private tutor to coach him. They are always fighting for better results and has about 5 marks difference in all the other subjects but slightly big gap in CL:( -
