Hi Sinsin,
Nan Hua High School has Chinese Dance as niche CCA. But it is a SAP school. Not sure if it is suitable to your DD.

Anyway, good luck to her!
There was a classmate who was told to leave gep. Happened in mid p5 after June holiday

Sleepy, was any reason given for the departure?

Nobody from my dc's batches was asked to leave gep but from what I gather from the trs, they don't look at marks alone. They look at the kid's learning attitude too.
Based on my experience as a school-based GEP teacher, normally a GEP student will not be asked to leave, unless the student has
1) attitude problem
2) discipline problem
3) health problem.

Hi Ganjiongspider,

DSA seeks to promote holistic education and provide students an opportunity to demonstrate a more diverse range of achievements and talents in seeking admission to a secondary school.

If the student's English DSA selection test result is impressive and school results for other subjects are relatively good, he/she still has a good chance. If there is valid reason that why the student does not participate in CCA at P6, it will not affect his/her application. If there is no valide reason, it may affect the application.

Hope it helps.

Cheers!

Reason being : want to better focus & totally concentrate for PSLE - is it a valid reason?
And what is the school mark range for subject domain (Eng, or Math) in order to be consider good? Eg. Is 85% & above acceptable? Or the selection criteria only look at 90% & above range?

Thanks!

Hi Tutorchen,

Hi Ganjiong spider,

I do not think it would be accepted as a valid reason. šŸ˜ž

Result wise, school mark as 85% and above is a minimum criteria. If have good competition result, i.e. gold medal, would be even better.
Also need to get at least top 20-30 in the DSA selection test, to get an invitation for interview.

Good luck!

• RE: ACS Barker Road

It is very easy for boys from feeder schools to get into ACS BR. I got one Sec 2 tutee from ACSJ scored 204 in PSLE and now he is in ACS BR. He improved a lot in his results and scored the second highest in class for Physics. For more info, click here: http://www.fa.edu.sg/students-improvement/#!gg-4-45

ACS BR is a school with nurturing culture. Good luck to P6 students getting their results next Thursday!

HI

May I know how the T score is calculated?
Is the weightage for Eng and MT higher than sci and math?
There is a formula calculating T-score.

Interestingly, the more difficult the paper is, i.e. the lower the mean raw score, higher SD, there are more students getting high T-scores.
If the paper is easy, there would be fewer students getting high T-score
