    • RE: SPERS-Sec - IP schools?

Through SPERS, My son’s list of eligible schools included RI, ACS etc in the Express Stream for Sec1. My son is PR and currently studying in an Intl school in Singapore.

Reading through the 2 SPERS threads on KiasuParents, there seems to be 2 types of outcomes. One, where the kid was allocated into the top schools of their choice. The second outcome, even with top schools being listed in the eligible schools list, the MOE allocated school was a neighborhood school. What is the differentiator?

I have a couple of questions regarding this process.
      1. If a kid scored extremely well on SPERS exam, is there a separate eligible schools list which states IP as the stream?
      2. Anyone on this forum know, if any PR kid ever got into the top schools through SPERS exam? Talking to MOE, there seems to be low priority given if the kid is already studying in Singapore.

@Future Academy, do you know if the kids who got into IP through SPERS have a different set of schools list stating IP as the stream? Many thanks.

    • RE: SPERS-Sec - IP schools?

My son is currently in Intl School in Singapore, he is PR. He has written the SPERS-Sec 1 exam, but according to MOE , since he is already in SG, he cannot participate in the school posting phase. Depending on exam results, and list of schools given, we need to approach the schools directly. Any body on this group have advise or experience in this route?

      Thanks a bunch

    • RE: NUS High School of Mathematics and Science (Diploma)

Attended NUS Open House today and after looking at the presentation, have a question regarding the number of applicants.

One of the slides mentioned that of the 2000 applicants that take the exam, 400 will be invited to camp. Does NUS look at all the applications and then only invite 2000 to take the exam? or is it an estimate of how many applicants they might get this year?
