Like today, I read from ST that JCU is strong in environmental science (& marine sciences I think) which I was unware of.

honestly, even australians don't think JCU is a very good school so I wouldn't recommend the JCU campus in singapore either.

but employers do see your pre-uni education & that's where singapore student will score against any regional education as both GEC O-level & GEC-A level are well recognized in US, UK & Aussie.

I have worked at 3 Fortune 500 companies and none of them had asked me for my O-level and A-level certs during recruitment.

The Singapore civil service is the only employer who thinks a test done at 16 and 18 years old is a good gauge of your work abilities.

It will be easier with NUS/NTU/SMU degree. Our uni are higher ranking than Aussie...

Many Australian (and European, and American) employers have never heard of NTU/SMU and only a handful of them know of NUS.

Singaporeans are always so obsessed with rankings.

      [Volunteer Groups in Singapore]

      [quote]Dear Friends,

If you wish to volunteer your time and service but are clueless on what's available out there, do check out this list of Volunteer Groups that I have compiled (to the best of my knowledge, feel free to add). You can look through these Facebook pages to better understand the mission of each group, the activities organized and type of support required. The good thing about these groups is that volunteering is totally ad hoc and no regular commitment is expected, so you can actually go try once and decide if you want to go back again the next time round. Most of these volunteer groups are set up by some like-minded friends, ordinary people like you and me, who have the passion to give and make a difference to the lives of the less fortunate. Please do give them your support because they do not rely on funds or grants from the government or any sponsors, which makes what they achieve very admirable.

Let's embrace kindness in our hearts and make it a lifelong mission to give, to help and to make our world a more beautiful place. Bringing the love, hope and happiness to others is certainly a good way to gaining happiness, meaning and fulfillment in life.

      zbear:
Thanks for info. For exchange, is it once a year or a couple of times per year?

Most students would do it only once (usually for a semester) in their 3 or 4 years in uni. It is optional so you can choose not to do it.

May I know how difficult is the bridging pgm ?

My friends who have done both the bridging programs and the Singapore A-levels all said the bridging programs are much easier.

Is it better if we allow them to do JC here then go overseas uni ?
If you can afford it, just do the bridging program directly. Don’t bother with JC. No point spending the extra year in Singapore.
