Yes, Singapore Savings Bond is also a good choice but the first year interest is only 0.86%. (April 22 batch).
Oh ya, sounded really fun and hope they all made lots of new friends thru the OG & the CG. They really all enjoyed themselves tremendously.
Any JC1 parents here? This year's orientation seems to be very very fun, with no more Covid restrictions.Imp75\" post_id=\"2098869\" time=\"1677208636\" user_id=\"2358:Actually, on the contrary, I did think this was great - could feel the nostalgia when everyone came together to sing those old xinyao & hwachong-related songs. But yes, I'm an alumni so maybe that's why ... since it does all sound/ feel very familiar like the old days.
The cca schedules do sound crazily demanding though. I heard that some have cca 4-5x a week. Well, the trials are ongoing now and they should be getting the answers soon. After all, NSG begins in March for some of them.lee_yl\" post_id=\"2098876\" time=\"1677210015\" user_id=\"17023:
Ok, thanks a lot.
For major notifications, communications are via parents gateway. -

Is the parent-communication via Parents Gateway or through some other medium?
Was told parent info access will be made available today.
Or is there no communications (they only inform the students?) -

The direct airfares are now quite ex ~ +/- 2.5k.
Hi,
Family of four -- two adults and two teenagers -- would like to visit NZ this year. Any tips on how to get cheap flights from SG to NZ?
TIA!
One possibility you can look into is to get a transit route via Syd/ Mel - should be able to save quite a bit but will need to do a stopover. -

Didn't really feel that there was a jump in terms of stress from Sec2 to Sec3. Of course, the subjects were harder and higher in level but I think it's kinda similar to when we were in Sec2/3.
Hi parents. Is Sec 2 to Sec 3 a huge jump in terms of difficulty, workload and stress levels? Any sharing would be appreciated. DD will be taking 8 subjects and emotionally ok so far. But I’m worried about her mental health in upper Sec. Thank you.
Unless there's some specific reason why you're concerned about her mental health, I'd say just deal with the schoolwork similarly as in Sec2 - pay attention in class, do homework regularly, consult the teachers if need help or miss lessons due to competitions etc. -
RE: Question: Photo paper for laser printers

I am currently using one of the Epson eco-tank printers.
Can you or anyone else recommend a laser printer model for use at home? Budget sensitive but looking at low cost per print for mainly school work purposes for the family. Thank you!
My model is the L4160 but there’s probably a newer model by now.
It’s a wireless color inkjet printer with a flatbed scanner.
So far the original ink that came with the printer is still more than ¾ full.
No issues so far. -

All schools will \"filter\" to a certain extent to make sure that the students are able to cope with the academic rigour required in that school and stream. From the results submitted, the schools can estimate the students' PSLE results and that they are not too far off from the COP. They will also interview to discern if the students are able to cope with both the DSA needs and the school academic standards.
Any idea if NYGH, RGS and SNGS also filter based on academic results first? Tks.. -

Shouldn't be too much of an issue unless it's abused badly since it's a branded item and all.
Wow - that's detailed. Anyway, we have the printer already, and we'll hope it lasts and works well. My office has a somewhat higher-end version of the same model and it's served us well for 4 years (although it had much less use than normal over the past 2 years). Fingers crossed!
Just don't put more inkjet coated photo papers thru it
