• RE: GEP round 2 - possible outcomes?

For some of the popular schools, as much as 35-40% of each cohort get into round 2 of GEP selection. Those within top 8-10% of such schools usually have a very high chance of getting into GEP.

Meta class is those outside 1% from gep selection test, maybe 2-3%.

I doubt MOE is interested to fill up the vacancy of the gep classes.

For eg, typically Henry park can probaly take in 50 kids, due to sch location which is less accessible, it is a less popular gep school, so every yr then can only get like 15-18 per class for their 2 class which have capacity of 25 each.
Similarly, for CHS this yr, with 50 capacity, they only have 46kid.

They dont fill up the remaining vacancy to make the nos.

thanks for the clarification. For a child unable to clear selection round to get into the GEP, the letter will clearly state \"unsuccessful\" right? P.S tecnically all those who did the gep selection are already top 5-6% within their cohort?

Has anyone proved that its the same person and the new centre is also set up by previous founder? If not it may be all guesswork. If it is true more should be warned.

It is not guesswork. Founder's name on new centre is Eunice Cheang, same as Aristocare.

Based on previous reports, the original Aristocare was not really a center and the tutiorials were conducted in his own private house.
So Founder's name is not so important whether real or not.

He was a physiotherapist by training. But that does not prevent him from giving tuition or writing textbooks. The issue is that if one can verify that he continues to make unfounded claims, then the public should be made aware of this since many have been taken in previously. KSP forum caters only to a very small group of parents. Perhaps the threadstarter could look into this again.
It's getting more and more difficult to accept the results. Students who were performing so much lesser than her has outperformed her tremendously. What is wrong? Is it just exam luck? Should I get the papers to be assessed?

It's difficult but still have to accept.
What or where went wrong? Nobody knows...appealing may lead to something worse...so accept our lot and move on. Luck just was not with us then...we have done our best and so has the children.

My daughter who was a consistent performer since P1 and was always on school top 3 until p4 and top 1 in P5 only scored 252 + 2. She works so hard every year sacrificing even her play time and holidays. Her score was very shocking to all of us as we all surely expected her to score 260 + 2 and to be among school top 3 as many students this year worked extremely hard. It took us 3 days to recover from this shock and I keep consoling myself telling that I want to appeal. My daughter keeps telling she did her exams well. My dd's mother tongue is Tamil. I am a layman when it comes to T score calculation.

1. Will my dd's tamil t-score be affected if the bottom most ranked girl or boy scored quite low?.
2. Is there any use of appealing as someone here said that ' what if something opposite happens' ?.
Have heard similar stories over the years.
Your dd has done well.
Ask her to go read the success story of last year top O level student in Singapore.
The student also got 250 plus for her psle, did not go to those renowned IP schs, but she got 10 A1s and top the O level.
For those who work hard, many unexpected doors will open for them.

I have signed up my boy (3.5yrs) with ICR at Rivervale mall. It's his 3rd lesson now but he is still crying and not willing to go into the class himself. He doesn't want to attend. He is a full time childcare boy and has always loving going to school.

Any one here has any feedback on the ICR at Rivervale mall? I was thinking, should i change his class to another slot with different teacher or perhaps change him to Kovan outlet which that might be the next alternative nearer to my house at Punggol. Or is that normal?

Need some advices plsss. 🙏

Either he doesn't like the particular teacher or environment. Think for ICR, the teacher makes a lot of difference. So my advice is to switch the branch and then re evaluate whether to continue.

How come he didn't get charged or anything? So unfair!!

to open a court case, we need someone brave enough to step forward and charge him. But also mean that this parent must be prepared to \"malu\" himself, esp. if inspite of paying so much to Aristocare, his child still didn't manage to get into GEP. As such, who'll dare to step forward, open a court case ?

this conman smart enough to predict that nobody dare to malu himself, challenge & bring him to court. Hence, he succeed in conning so many anxious, hopeful parents desperate to 'hothouse' their child prepare for P3 GEP screening / selection tests... for so long. Long enough .... to buy himself 3 landed private property.

How do we know that no parents are taking action? Maybe there are. Thought someone in this earlier thread was gathering contacts from other parents.

At the other end, won't be surprised if some parents have chosen to continue the tuition with him, anyone knows if this is so.

• RE: Aristocare

Perhaps the issue is not whether he is still giving tuition to VIP kids but rather if he is still giving tuition.

If the info is true then it is contrary to what he was being quoted in the papers.
The "center" may be closed that there is nothing wrong for him to do "free lancing" or start a new center.
As for "justice", Case has already come out to clarify on the law. As mentioned in earlier post, to be effective the best way is to publicise and gather a group thru the mass media.

Parenting geniuses, gifted kids or mainstream kids or kids with learning difficulties, - can there be a measurement for what is easier? In the same vein, can we really measure what is easier, teaching geniuses, gifted, mainstream or kids with learning difficulties? In the end what do all kids want from their parents? What do all kids want from those who teach them. My understanding of humanity so far is we all want ACCEPTANCE and unconditional LOVE. Kids, regardless of their intelligence or abilities, want acceptance from the significant adults in their lives, unconditional acceptance. Not the kind of acceptance that is dependent on what grades I get, or what school I go to. Unquote

Well said.
Have to add that parents from poorer social backgrounds having kids with learning difficulties have the greatest challenge. Worse still, kids with learning difficulties having zero support from parents due to circumstances beyond their control face the kind of trauma that many of us may not even think of. There are kids who absent themsleves from sch so as to look after their even younger sibs bec parents are not home or parents who are either struggling to meet ends meet or due to dysfunctional families.

Generally kids of KSP parents (who come to KSP threads) are already a privileged lot regardless of their problems or kiasuness of their parents.
How many parents of the 50 000 kids every year have the resources/finances to send their kids to the top enrichment classess, all the right, left brain training, all the motivational courses, all the expensive GEP training and hobbies etc, let alone having the time to do volunteering work or finances to be renting properties near desired schs. If we take a step backwards and view things in a wider context, then we will realise that some of our parenting worries may just be unnecessary perceived obstacles that we have created for ourselves.

How is SCGS academic standing today

(compared with other “All Girls” School) ?

http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=487&start=1570

An excellent summary based on quality passess.
Looks like MGS, SCGS and RGPS (GEP included) are the top 3 girl schs based on quality passes.

What about the mean of T score? SCGS and MGS have ave T score of about 233-235. What about RGPS (with and without GEP) T score?
