All About Tuition

If you think that tuition is necessary
Hi.
Did you employ the tutors from InnoWits for your children?
Care to share? -
Tution or no depends alot on the child, my girl’s result for chinese depends very much on whether i gave her tution or not. the year i gave up chinese tution, her result is 60++ but the year i send her for tution, she manage to get 70++, so i think tution works for her in her chinese subject so i continue to let her go for tution. she is now in sec 1. manage to get a A in chinese in her psle recently.
Language like english and chinese is important to have exposure , so i believe twice a week extra exposure is good for her, anyway, the time she use for tution is only 3.5 hours. this time if she is not doing tution, i believe she will be playing computer games or slagging. -

Sleepy...I totally agree with you.How about differentiating between tuition & enrichment?
to me, tuition is getting the tutors to teach school syllabus in advance & clarify any doubt in school syllabus. Prep for exam, do lots of assessment books & top schools exam papers
that, I think is not necessary unless the child is weak in his study & need extra help
enrichment is kind of like immersion? not following school syllabus, may or may not transform to better grades but it does broaden the scope or horizon, learn beyond what is required from school syllabus
that, I don't mind, regardless of school grades
My kids have no tuition, but they hv enrichment classes.... -
I feel whether isit home tuition or enrichment class really depends on your child. Last time I send my children to MPM when they are younger. The exposure is not bad but I feel that my children is not able to fully reap the benefits from such classes. But when I engage home tutors for them, I do find more obvious improvements in their grades. Afterall, home tutors focus on school syallbus and they can cater to your child speed, esp if your child does not have fast learning abilities or get distraction in big classes.

I feel that tuition does help a child if the child is willing to go for it and after each tuition, the child must take out the lesson and revise. If not, the child will just go for tuition classes for the sake of going…bring the tuition bag to the tuition class and thereafter bring the tuition bag home and leave the bag untouched until the next tuition.
In my opinion, if there is no revision at home after each tuition class, there will not be much improvement. -

Anyway I don't view it as tuition, I would just view it as enrichment. I also had cut off tuition & the only I had now is chinese. If really the grades are very bad then go back for help again. My take: I'm not sending my children for tuition unless they really need it, i.e., they are below average and/or we can't help them.
Now, I shall quote buds: titank, as thread starter, shouldn't you set a good example by stating your views first?

weaker students go for tuition to improve their grades
smarter students with good grades go for tuition to learn higher order questions to top the class
the top students go for tuition to maintain the lead over the class, and go for enrichment classes to win competitions -
Tuition, enrichment, education guidance, teaching, learning spree, coaching, knowledge sharing, tutelage, apprenticeship etc, these are but different ways to communicate learning from other expert worthy of imparting the knowledge. \"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet\", so effectiveness is really subjective and tuition can be known by different names too. What is important is that the tuitiion can translate to and deliver results.
It will be interesting to share with all, that in the university, the fees paid for university education is actually known as \"tuition fee\". And JC and University \"teachers\" are really called \"tutors\" besides the lecturer who gives lecture to the group.
It doesn't matter whether it is a black cat or a white cat, as long as it can catch mice, it is a good cat.

I got 2 private tutors from Innowits for my boy recently for EMS and another one for Chinese. The tutors were good and experienced. The Chinese tutor was an ex-school teacher who know the syllabus very well.
Hi, can share why you find the tutors good ? Other than being experienced and ex-school tr. How is their method of teaching ? -
Hi belinda, can you give me the number to InnoWits? My friend also said that the tutors they recommend are good.
