Using Relative's Address & Statutory Declaration
-
Aleixis:
The brutal truth is MOE will reject if you declare they are in Childcare now and in future look after by grandparents. MOE is looking at who looked after the child before P1, NOT after P1. Do not lie to MOE because they can retrieve your child's Childcare record and penalise you for making false declaration. Thanks, but the fact still remains that the grandparents will be the one looking after them after they go to P1. I understand that parents will not be able to prove it but I thought the purpose of the statutory declaration is for the parents to declare how the child will be looked after in the future.
The fact that the children are placed in child care does not mean that the grandparents are not able to look after them. It is because of the other additional activities and programmes and being around other children, etc. Better than staying at home and watching TV most of the time.
Is it really true that MOE rejected a statutory declaration because of that reason? -
So, the declaration includes whether the child is currently in child care or not?
If that question is in the stat declaration, then of course one cannot lie.
Sorry but I guess I still cannot understand the logic behind it. The reason why the grandparents will be looking after the child is in P1 is because the children will be heading there after school since it is close by. Isn’t that the reason why MOE even allowed this avenue instead of just the parents’ residential address? Just because you didn’t put child in child care also does not mean that the child will be looked after by the grandparents in the future or that they looked after them in the past before.
Hmm…Maybe I am misunderstanding the reason why this avenue was even offered in the first place by MOE for registration purposes. -
Moe has to base on before p1, not after p1 enrollment.
After p1 enrollment :-
Many parents can put their p1 child into after school student care centre.
So they have switched from a pre-school childcare centre, to a p1 after school student care centre. For the same reason :-
Need someone to supervise their school work, instead of watching tv at home. -
Thanks both. If those are the rules, then nothing much one can do.
I know there are loopholes in the system that a lot of people try to take advantage of. But, just feel abit unfair for those who will be genuinely looked after by the grandparents after school.
Thanks again for taking the time to try to explain this. -

You may want to try your luck in July and see if MOE approve your statutory declaration. I do not know if this year the rules will change or not too. Mayb you can email to the customer service and check. Thanks both. If those are the rules, then nothing much one can do.

Appreciate if you could keep us updated as I am facing a similar situation.
Thanks. -
Ok. kaypoh me as I’ve a nephew in the same situation who is registering this year.
I actually called MOE customer service and enquired about the specific situation where the child is in full day child care and taken care of grandparents in the evening.
They said the child is still eligible for statutory declartion so long as the grandparents is taking care of the child on a full time basis (I specifically clarified that child is in full time cc) and they said yes even though child is in full day cc, so long as being taken care of full time, they qualify. Key thing is grand parent is not employed.
For those in this situation, you might want to call MOE directly to clarify rather than speculating here. -
anyone know if me and my hb’s address is different, is there any impact for P1 registration?

Alot of people said there is and it should be the same. But I have a friend and her address is different from her dh's. They used dh's address for P1 registration it seems to be fine. -
