2014 P1 Registration Exercise for 2015 In-Take
-
Hi Floppy,
I value more rest for the child. As it is, he’s having problems waking up now for school and we’re late almost everyday. As we’re working parents, it’s hard to give the kids an early bed time. Neighbourhood sch would have been ideal but due to the crapiness of this entire sch system, I’m now forced to go for Rosyth or HIPS to get into a decent sch. Now I’m wondering what’s the best way to get into HIPS since I only qualify for Phase 2B.
What’s the cut off time to withdraw application in Rosyth and apply for HIPS? I will need one parent at each school to effect this right? -

You need to withdraw from Rosyth and register with HIPS by the last day of P2B registration. -
Hi qms,
Is there a cut off time? So I shld arrange for hb to be in Rosyth to withdraw, say at 4.30pm, then for me to register 5 mins later at HIPS with the original docs? If I’m using statutory declaration so I can use my IL’s address, does my hb need to be present? Or the reference letter from MOE would suffice? Usually at the end of day for each phase, will there be a surge in applications? -

Registration ends at 4.30 pm. It means your application needs to be entered into the MOE system by 4.30 pm. So, it will be too late if your husband withdraws only at 4.30 pm.
Some schools require original documents to complete the withdrawal. Hence, you need to check with Rosyth of their requirements. I think you will more or less have an idea on the likelihood of balloting at around 3 pm.krex:

Yes, many parents will be adopting the wait and see strategy. So, expect a sudden surge of application in the last hour of the last day of registration. That's why it is always good to give yourself some buffers. If you really plan to withdraw from Rosyth and apply with HIPS, please give yourself sufficient time. You won't want to end up nowhere due to insufficient time in completing all these paperwork.Usually at the end of day for each phase, will there be a surge in applications?

Plan after NDR, changes coming....
Go to OneMap SchoolQuery
\"The SchoolQuery service contains information accurate as of June 2013 for registration of children for admission to Primary One in 2014. The information for registration of children for admission to Primary One in 2015 will be updated in June 2014.\" -

QMS,
How much time is sufficient? After making the assessment at 3pm at HIPS, shld I go to Rosyth to withdraw, then make a trip back to HIPS to apply? How long does a sch take to process application? -

Withdrawal is pretty fast. The problem is if you have a group of people in front of you doing the withdrawal, too. So, that will take time.
Please check with Rosyth what documents they need for withdrawal, if any. -
qms:
Depends on the school. I went to the school at 425pm and told them I wanted to register but the other school needed to withdraw the initial registration. My wife was stationed at the other school and they dillied and dallied intil it was almost 4:40pm! I was panicking, but the admin of the school was quite calm, told me that since I was in the school before 430pm, it's not an issue, the system is always opened!krex:

Though my DD is only in next year, but I think leaving more buffer time i.e 4.15pm is preferred so that you can cope with any unexpected issues such as system lagging and error, long queues, principal in toilet etc.
Going for changes at the very last minute will only stress you n spouse more especially when needed to deal with 2 schools?
Do correct me if I'm incorrect on the above as it will be my turn to stress next year too! :?:
