Wonder what eactly SCGS or MGS look for in dance students under DSA. Is grade 5 sufficiently or must one the child won several competitions?

my gal has been taking up ballet for the last 6 yrs (RAD exams) but she did not go for any DSA via ballet (depends which sch of choice u wanna).

yes, sad to say that ballet CCA is not a core CCA in sec sch
as for the international dance CCA, seems that the audition places more emphasis on dance such as hip hop or jazz (as far as her sch is concern)
the foundation of her ballet does not really help her in her dance audition at all… not surprise if she is not chosen…so pathetic

yes, it's good to have a backup..........
but on the other hand, it'll take up more time besides the heavy workload esp when in the upper pri.
just like now, gal has to go for ballet outside sch, besides the sch compulsary CCA.
but leave her with no choice as ballet is her interest,
moreover, just can't give up half way thru.........rite???

                Hi Augmum,

Your dd's current school does more hip hop and jazz for international dance? Oh that's unusual because in a lot of schools, the international dance CCA participates in SYF, and for that usually they look for girls with a good ballet or modern dance foundation.

So what CCA has your dd taken up?

yup same here. ...this morning my girl has to attend an extra weekday ballet lesson in preparation for the exam in april...
so........quite unlikely she is able to take up another cca in school .. 😞

                    hi turquoise

long time din chat with u........

i am surprised too when she said that she was asked to do a dance.
she did a dance so called \"choreographed\" herself, half way thru...
                    she couldn't remember the steps....then the usual....\"OK....can stop here\".....so u know what they means.....haha

regarding abt what CCA, results not known yet
the pupils are supposed to choose2 PA and 2 UG
if neither of the PA is selected, she'll push to the UG...

remember the last time, i was saying that in RGS,
CCA is kinda of they choosing u, rather than u choosing one that u have passion in it......
now in DHS, same thing happens..... sigh!!!

vlim, for pri sch, think not so bad, as the sch \"recognise\" ballet as a CCA even if u take fr outside......
(but some pri schs don't, u still need another CCA organised by the sch)
but for sec, no way out........

and it is a norm to have 2 practices a wk for the 1 st term b4 the exam every year........
