      ngl2010:
I hope after PSLE is over, MOE will give announcement that the PSLE standard from now on will be like this year's standard. This will lighten up the pressure on parents and children. However, it is unlikely MOE will do that because the tuition industry will be affected greatly.

I don't think tuition centre is fully regulated so it will not affected MOE
And it will most affect all half pass six pte tutors

You will be surprised at how unrealistic some parents are......
Once PSLE papers are easy, I presume school exams will slowly be less difficult as well and we will be back to 'why paper so easy you din score???'

That's true about the current mindset of some parents. Super KS. On hindsight, these ambitious parents can coach their kids on their own then since the questions will not be too difficult and thus can rely less on tuition. For the above average pupils with reasonable parents like us, tuition can be totally eliminated. That's what our discussion was about earlier. :imanangel:[/quote]

Coach them to be a better person and not to complain when their so call advantage is not fully benefit them...

Moe has hard time to please us; if psle papers set difficult, those below aver safe pupils will be stressful n parents complain ; if easy, they are worried on t-score n afraid cannot go to dream school especially high achiever students. So right move is to increase dsa intake.

Or honestly just set it to those schools like MGS standard.

              Ask and ye shall receive.

For years, parents have been complaining that PSLE is testing far beyond what is taught in schools, leading to high levels of stress for kids. So it appears that for this year, Eng and Math have been brought down to those levels.

              Happy?

As for the impact on application to schools, if many students score similarly because many students do similarly well (right down to the last dec place), the allocation will be down to balloting among SCs. The very bright ones will not have an advantage bec their score will not differentiate them from the above average ones who scored similarly. So distribution of students across top and 2nd tier schools will be more random. No more clustering of the top students in top schools bec many students would have scored similarly well.

              Happy?

Moral of the story: Be careful what you wish for.

Everybody getting curious on the standard of the last two papers. It’s going to get more exciting. But better assume it to be difficult and use the weekend to revise.

Actually, if it is difficult, it will benefit the higher achievers.

Priority is to make sure all pupils taking psle passed n everyone is happy but for those ks who pay more for tuition n found papers much easier than thought will not be happy…

Sure? No need to aim for 100%?
If easy papers, even average ones will no longer be happy with 85% liao. :siam:

Psle is based on t-score, not raw score. Parents should know their kids' limitations. Not every kid will stretch himself to achieve the perfect score, and so does the parents on their kids. However, easy papers will serve their purpose of a less stressful studying environment, and thus less stressful childhood.
Here we are talking about how easy the papers are. But IMHO, at least 40% or 50% of the kids in Singapore may still find the past 2 papers challenging.

DS's classmate got 3 strokes of cane when he scored 99% in one Maths exam because of careless mistake. With the paper so easy now, maybe he'll get 5 strokes of cane :nailbite:
