      Hi all,

Finally, I have to register my son into primary school this year for 2011 intake.

I am still considering two choices - Rulang Pri and Clementi Pri. Both choices are chosen due to the fact that they are old schs of mine and husband’s. I am staying at central west, and our caregiver, my MIL is staying at Clementi thus I have been always thinking that it will be better for my son to reg into CPS as it is nearer to my MIL’s although it is a neighbourhood sch.

But earlier, I had a chat with my husband, he said if Rulang is much more popular, then get him in, since we can arrange for sch bus to fetch him. Indeed, I will love my son to get into RPS, but he will have to spend more time traveling to get to and fro sch. Although we are still considering as ‘staying in the west’ I am afraid he may feel tired.

I have to reconsider my initial plans and do a more constructive decision. In my situation, any comments on what factors should I consider? TIA.

Dear VSCL09, the first rule of P1 Registration is to register in your alma mater, as long as it is within reasonable distance. That will take you way out of the Phase 2C madness.

If the travel time from your home to the school is under 30mins, I personally think it is ok and you have made the right decision.

          Dear VSCL09,

Phase 2C is really stressful…so I agree with ChiefKiasu that registering the child in your former school will take away that madness.

My daughter is due for P1 registration this year…I’ve got an older child within walking distance (Phase 1), but I am considering putting her in my former school which has an affiliated secondary school. It’s about 15 min drive away. Hubby is still "calculating" if there is any risk to bypass Phase 1 and get into my former school under Phase 2A2.

ChiefKiasu, could you please give me your opinion ? Thanks.

            2A2 is quite safe one.

The madness will start in 2B in some popular schools.

You can check this forums stats of balloting for past years.

No need to calculate, janet_lee88. Like JonC says, Phase 2A2 is very safe.

Yes, Phase 2A(2) is confirm safe, 100% chopped & certified. Don't have to calculate until the cow come home. Anyone want to place a bet where Phase 2A(2) have balloting? The prize would be kiasupoints. :celebrate:

                    Dear all,

Thanks for your comments and assurance that Phase 2A2 is very safe. 🙂

In fact, both schools I have in mind are old schools of ours, only that Rulang stands out. Indeed, it is really stressful studying in there, but I think it will be good that the strict teachers can discipline my mischievous son and get him to excel academically. RPS is also good at Robotics, an area I will like my son to venture into.

As for Clementi Pri Sch, I have not heard of much reviews except that its just an average school which is sort of 2nd in line sch in the Clementi estate.

More bonus factors taken in to choose RPS. :celebrate:

Hi, I’m also registering my girl this year and still debating which of the 2 schools I should apply:

                        1) River Valley Primary (phase 2B)
                        2) Raffles Girls (phase 2C within 1km)

What do you think of these 2 schools? I’ve heard a lot of good comments on raffles but i also heard the teachers in top schools don’t really teach and it’s the parents/tutors who’s doing the job. Which school provides a better choice of CCA? Also, do all-girls’ schools provide a better learning envrionment (i heard the girls from raffles are very "guai").

I’m considering RVPS as i have a son born in 2006 so a co-ed school wud be more convenient. Besides, my boy is not the agressive type so he might get pushed around in a boys school. Was considering Nanyang at first but give up as balloting required even within 1km in 2C.

Thanks in advance for your opinons!
