Can I ask for advise..if primary school offers ballet lesson n dd has been learning outside is it good to join the school or stay put ?
If you have the time to spare to let dd learn both in school and outside, you can commit to that schedule. It is not about the pricing but at Pri 1 level, the child has to cope with academics in 3 main subjects, school homework, Spelling,听写, online e-learning as well as CCA in school and enrichment outside. Not an easy task.
In preschool level, can expose the child to various enrichment but in primary level, exposing the child to too much enrichment outside may leave little time for the child to revise her work. You have to weigh the time factor. -
Take only 1 ballet will do -
The one that offer ballet exam.
If yr dd school’s ballet got rad exam :-
Take the school, and drop the external ballet enrichment outside.
If yr dd’s school ballet no rad exam :-
Just stick to the external ballet enrichment outside, that has ballet exam.
Whether ballet learnt in school or learnt outside as enrichment :-
It is still the same ballet after all.
P1 school work will accelerate from term 2 to term 4. (After march holiday : one week break). It will move a faster pace, and yr dd mini byte assessment(s) will be accumulated, towards final lump sum total.
Term 1 is just a short honeymoon period for them to ease them in slowly, from kindergarten into primary school environment.
Taking too much cca + outside enrichment -
will tired your dd, if she not enough rest.
Time management is important.
P1 environment + (term 2 to 4) school work expectation is different from kindergarten kiddy environment.
If yr child can’t cope -
the school will contact parents. -

Yes, I agree with you that TERM 1 is Honeymoon Period. The pace at my current dd school is accelerating a little now and with the Holistic assessments in Term 2, I expect more homework from the school. Therefore this period in Term 1 should let the child play and enjoy more.Take only 1 ballet will do -

My Dd is born on Aug 2009. She is currently in Pre-primary ballet class. Looking at the new RAD exam min age requirements, by the time she is in P6 - what level will she be? I am keen to pursue the DSA way for her.

Porky pig, the grades follow in the manner pre-primary, primary, grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 then intermittent foundation year 1 & 2 and finally advanced year 1 & 2. Each grade is one year. So you can calculate from there which grade your girl will be in by then.

I would do both to see the school ballet instructor is good. In school the class size is big. If you are only looking at letting your child follow the movements then is fine. If it's serious ballet learning, a smaller class size is more favorable. -

Hi, any recommendations for toddler/pre-primary ballet in the North area? Ang Mo Kio/ YCK/ Bishan/Toa Payoh, can even go to Yishun area too. Age group should be <4 yrs old, DD is now 3 yrs and 4 mths old.
I brought DD to Crestar at Thomson Plaza to try out their dancing tots class (2.5-4 yrs old) but I didn’t really like it. TIA! -
Hi Zenparent
Do you have any particular reason that u didn’t really like it at Crestar at Thomson Plaza?
You may try Toa Payoh CC. -
Hi,
Anyone here knows any centres that offer teen beginner ballet?
