Hi! My son is currently in N1 Humility PM class. Nice to meet all the N1 parents here. Anyone in the same class as him?

              Hi all!

I wish to enrol my DD for K1 next year. Will dd get confused in learning (eg Maths) if attend both normal kindy and Montessori lessons where they r using 2 different teaching methods?

Appreciate if any parents have sent their child to both to give some advise? Tks!

Hi wyou, the registration is this coming Monday 7 April! Do Q up early otherwise you may have to plan for a mid-year transfer.

Are u referring to the Montessori enrichment offered by BRMCK? Or will your DD be going for a separate Montessori class outside? My boy is in N2 this year including BRMCK Montessori, it doesn’t interfere with the normal curriculum, in fact Montessori enhances their retention of regular Kindy curriculum. At Montessori my boy gets to choose his own pace, so I often see him learn ahead of his regular class for certain topics, eg. Phonics & Chinese writing

                  Hi Zac’s mum,

Tks for replying. Think I can only Q up there at 8:30am the earliest. Hopefully still have vacancy by then.
Ya, I mean the Montessori enrichment in BRMCK.

DD is in Monte school now. As we will be moving to tat area so tot of enrolling her in BRMCK.

Just worry that dd will get confused. I believe Monte Phonics usually is the stronger area in the curriculum. But for Maths, it’s totally different method…Tats where I worry about.

May I know if the school has teacher to take care of those who attend Monte or other enrichment class during lunch time? (11:30am- 12:00)

                  Tks!

I know in my son’s registration in 2012 those who came at 8.30am had Q number 100 plus…but the majority were Q-ing for N1 AM session. U may not need to worry so much since you’re aiming for K1. PM session is somehow easier to get in because the timing doesn’t suit most working parents, or clashes with kids’ nap time.

If u’re adding the Montessori enrichment, I strongly suggest u bring a kaki to help u register at the separate Q for enrichment classes. Montessori enrichment has a long waiting list so must sign up early too. Oh and bring cheque book otherwise must paiseh borrow from other parents.

Monte Maths sets a very good foundation because it teaches from fundamental principles. K1 will probably start to introduce standard maths like addition etc in prep for Primary 1. Now my boy N2 Term 2 only still learning counting & writing 1-10 (Eng & Chi), not real maths yet.

Lunch is provided for Montessori kids, supervised by the teachers. There is even a short toilet break after lunch. Other enrichment that starts after 3pm, eg. Ballet etc, no lunch provided.

:yikes: Writing and counting 1 to 10 is not real Maths?! :yikes:

Counting 1 to 10 is teaching the child about number sense. It teaches the child how to count concrete objects with one to one correspondence. From there, the child can move on to counting pictorial objects. Do not underestimate counting 1 to 10.
