I stayed at Kuta. Nice place, many attractions, but I would not bring my kids there. Too many drunk people, people were selling Viagra and forbiden things on the streets to anyone. I don't think it is a very safe place for youg children.

Stay at Nusa Dua area is more suitable if you have young children.

It's Nusa Dua too for me when I go with kids. If it is just hubby and I, I like ubud. I never liked Kuta.

Jimbaran is also nice. I find that Nusa Dua is very expensive. The price you pay for food is equivalent to Sg prices.

For my case, I was on budget. I stayed 2 nites at private pool villa at Ubud and 4 nites at kuta.

Kuta is abit crowded but we don't find it rowdy. There is a new shopping mall - Beachwalk Mall in Kuta and also a new hotel - Sheraton Kuta.

In Beachwalk mall, there's a kids play thingy (similar to explorer kids) Miniapolis. Need to wear socks. My kids enjoy themselves there.
            http://www.beachwalkbali.com/attraction/detail/24/miniapolis

We avoid going to Legian area in Kuta as this area is a haven for clubbers, alot of pubs. Not suitable for us with kids. The 2002 Bali bombing was in Legian area.

Overall we find Kuta ok as it is near the beach, good shopping mall and varities of food available.

FYI, cannot drink the water from the tap, have to buy mineral water. Brush teeth is ok but cannot drink.

Oh just to add. Beware of Dengue.

My HB’s friend got Dengue upon return to Singapore from Bali. Can’t confirm whether he got it from home or from Bali. However, his house was not dengue hotspot.

Use lots of mosquito repellent and on the electric repellent (provided by the hotel) at all times.

Hi, I’m travelling in August. Anyone can recommend me a nice hotel/resort in Ubud? I am travelling with my hubby and 3yo kid. Would like to look for nice hotel or resort to stay. Any interesting place to go in Ubud?

Besides Ubud, any other city which is interesting? Seminyak or Kuta or Sanur worthwhile to go?

                Thanks!

I like Alila Ubud. It is a bit out of town but there is free shuttle. The resort is surrounded by padi fields and very quiet and peaceful. Spa is gd.

U can take the shuttle and walk around town for shopping, see the temple, go to monkey forest ( but be careful as monkey is aggressive. They are trained to snatch your things, then u need to pay their trainers to get it back). At night can watch kecak Ramayana dance show, but not sure if your 3yo will be scared by the masks they wear. Some kids like, some don't.

Ubud also can do the white water rafting, but your 3yo cannot. U can also use Ubud as base to visit near by silver factory.

I like Ubud. It is a peaceful relaxing town away from the crazy kuta, and sterile nusa dua. But I only go Ubud when it is just hubby and I. I find is a more adult place for peace and relaxation and cultural experience. With kids, I prefer nusa dua.

We stayed at westin at nusa dua. The family suite was very good. Kids under 12 go kids club for free and get a refillable mug for drinks anytime they want throughout stay. With kids club, it allowed hubby and I to go spa etc. we also could do water sports and white water rafting with older kids while leaving the youngest at the kids club. If we don't come back in time for lunch, we just order a kids meal for her and they will supervise her meal. Price for kids meal very reasonable.

I only trust kids club of international hotel chain. Most international chain are in nusa dua. No noisy night spots etc at nusa dua. Security check even you enter nusa dua area. At westin. the kids club had very varied activities, like Balinese dance kite making, preparation for Balinese festivals etc. westin is newly renovation and in contemporary design. Beter since one of my son is scared of the Balinese carvings of statues etc.
