Giggler1:
pinkybear, what activities did you plan for your 6 yr old gal? Why she enjoyed?
Hi Giggler1
My dd is 9 years old now.
3 years ago I had brought her to watch Barong & Kris Dance and Kecak & Fire Dance, Tanah Lot, silver factory, rice terrace, Ubud shopping, Luwak-Coffee plantation, lunch at Kintamani overseeing the active volcano Mount Batur and a lake, sunset dinner at Jimbaran beach, etc. This time I would say she likes the pools in the villa, the Seminyak beach, daily body massage and the gelato at Ubud.
I wanted to go for Snorkeling + glass bottom boat + turtle island but my friends prefer shopping. My dd asked for Elephant Safari which rejected as we had many elephant rides in Thailand. She saw the white water rafting from a brochure and requested us to go. I am no no :nailbite: -

I know Bali is a romantic place for couples, however, I am planning to bring my son and wife to Bali this coming June holidays to travel as a family together. I was wondering if anybody here can recommend any family-friendly places in Bali instead of those spa and romantic restaurants as my son might not enjoy it. Also, I'm looking for recommendations to deals and offers to Bali. I heard DBS is having some game where tickets to Bali is being given out. Anybody heard or know how to participate?
I've found the link to the game!! It's http://www.dbs.com.sg/travellershieldsolvethesuitcase. Anybody else tried the game? Really hoping that I will win this for my family! haha. -

happydl, may I know which villa did you stay that has private pool? TIA!
I stayed at in a villa in Ubud (villa Palm kuning). That area whole sketch is private villa with pool. These villas are owned by private owners and all are licensed and managed by this guy called Steve, an angmo who lived in Ubud.

My review in trip advisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/VacationRentalReview-g297701-d2416402-Villa_Palm_Kuning_Gorgeous_new_2br_villa_in_Ubud-Ubud_Gianyar_Bali.html#review_148050836
I only booked for 2 nites but i regretted, should have booked for 3 nites. Really enjoyed staying there. I paid only approx SGD92 per nite for the villa - 2 bedrooms with private pools. -
I stayed at Kuta. Nice place, many attractions, but I would not bring my kids there. Too many drunk people, people were selling Viagra and forbiden things on the streets to anyone. I don’t think it is a very safe place for youg children.

Stay at Nusa Dua area is more suitable if you have young children. -

It's Nusa Dua too for me when I go with kids. If it is just hubby and I, I like ubud. I never liked Kuta.Marib:

Jimbaran is also nice. I find that Nusa Dua is very expensive. The price you pay for food is equivalent to Sg prices.

For my case, I was on budget. I stayed 2 nites at private pool villa at Ubud and 4 nites at kuta.
Kuta is abit crowded but we don't find it rowdy. There is a new shopping mall - Beachwalk Mall in Kuta and also a new hotel - Sheraton Kuta.
In Beachwalk mall, there's a kids play thingy (similar to explorer kids) Miniapolis. Need to wear socks. My kids enjoy themselves there.

We avoid going to Legian area in Kuta as this area is a haven for clubbers, alot of pubs. Not suitable for us with kids. The 2002 Bali bombing was in Legian area.
Overall we find Kuta ok as it is near the beach, good shopping mall and varities of food available.
FYI, cannot drink the water from the tap, have to buy mineral water. Brush teeth is ok but cannot drink. -
Oh just to add. Beware of Dengue.
My HB’s friend got Dengue upon return to Singapore from Bali. Can’t confirm whether he got it from home or from Bali. However, his house was not dengue hotspot.
Use lots of mosquito repellent and on the electric repellent (provided by the hotel) at all times. -
Hi, I’m travelling in August. Anyone can recommend me a nice hotel/resort in Ubud? I am travelling with my hubby and 3yo kid. Would like to look for nice hotel or resort to stay. Any interesting place to go in Ubud?
Besides Ubud, any other city which is interesting? Seminyak or Kuta or Sanur worthwhile to go?
Thanks!
