Hi Applecore,Hi! Can any kind soul enlighten me regarding 2 issues?
1) Can 3rd language be used to substitute any of the 7 subjects or are there some subjects which have to be included no matter what ? Eg. can 3rd lang. replace MT ?
2) For school-related activities, how or where can pupils obtain the activity card ? How many of these activities do they organise per year and what are some of them ?
Thanks and a blessed Lunar New Year to all of you ! :celebrate:
You must include English, Math, Mother Tongue, Science & 1 Humanities into the GPA calculation. You can then choose the best two of your remaining subjects to include into the GPA calculation. You can include French at this point. So to answer your question, French cannot be used to replace MT. -

Classes 109-113 are all GEP classes.
Hi wmd,
May i know why do you expect your daughter to be in a GEP class? I understand she was from (primary) mainstream? I know of students in class 13 from mainstream with PSLE T-score lower than 270 and other mainstream students with T-score of 280 & above posted to class 9 & below.
Any idea how the class allocation was done? I'm very sure it is not based on T-score as some of my daughters' friends with lower T-scores are posted to one of the last 4 classes.
Class allocation is supposedly random, with the GEP classes constituting mostly primary GEP students - including those with PSLE scores below 270 - and a few primary mainstream students with PSLE scores above 270.
Some classes are designated MEP/SAP classes. At this point, subject combination affects class allocation slightly - for example, only certain classes have normal Chinese classes as opposed to HCL. -

for ssa (support-school-activities), the card should be given to you via your form teachers about the start of the year, if they haven gotten yet, means it should be soon. If you lose the card at any point of time, you'll have to get it replaced at the PE department. $5 for a card.
Example of SSA - sports competitions, cca performance such as choir, guitar, dance, and some school events like walk-a-jogathon for ORA. there is plenty of SSA in the year, most would be term2 and term3. You can usually sign up for them at the INET or foyer or forms that will be placed in the class trays.
As for the requirements and stuff sec1s should know about it.
Hope this helps

3rd language can replace a Humanities subject but not MT.

Hi, anyone know of an English private tutor who usually teaches RGS students? Please PM me if you do.

Just wondering if any one has any experience with doing past year papers from RGS. Are they really useful for exam. preparation ? Thanks!

Where can you get RGS past year papers? -
turquoise:
hey, maybe there is, im not very sure, but high chance you wont be able to get past years' papers of RGS outside of sch. my teachers once told the class that our exam papers are not allowed to be photocopied, meaning no circulation of RGS papers outside of sch. but teachers in sch will let students do practice papers of both RGS and other schs'.applecore:

To prepare for the exams, read all notes and do all ws given by the subject teachers. this should be sufficient. of course, reading more than what is provided is encouraged, but info should be of relevance.
All the best for coming exams. -
