      Meadows:
Another question, if we were to rent a place near the school, how long do we need to live in that rented unit? Before and after registration. Any idea anyone?

You are under 2A1, so distance commitment is not applicable. You can decide how long you want to stay in rented unit.

Renting house to stay near school? What happens if the landlord don't wish to continue renting out after a year? What if the current flat cannot be rented out to collect rent, meaning got no money for the rented unit? won't it be risky?

Or got one of those bad tenant who move in the house...then how to move back after six years? 🤷

Dun scare meadows lah... many pple are doing this. If landlord doesn't want to rent to you, you go rent another unit within 1km. Most units can be rented out if the price is right. Dun worry so much.

If kenna bad tenants, just be prepared to reno your own home before you return.

Meadows was asking about renting near CHIJ Katong. She only has 2A1 status at CHIJ TP. She likes living in the east and was looking at schools in the east.

We're telling her there's no need to rent near CHIJ Katong coz they have many places at Phase 2C.

I’m now feeling slightly anxious, I was just thinking of choosing whichever school is most near my house for the sake of convenience, is it really important to get into a good school?

                  Principals change every 5 / 6 years.

I made a visit to the shortlisted schools and spoke with the school admin. Its quite helpful in making my decision…

Yes, unless your DD is very well educated or a slow learner, then u can go for distance, else a good school is very important, good school teach more compare to a normal school, you will see the different in P3 GEP selection test & PSLE overall results. Or a simple one is look at their pass year test papers level. Also normal school, not so pressure for teacher to have results, which results in some teachers are just passing time…

Some primary schools do not even bother to arrange Parents meet Tr (PMT) session.

actually, the most important PMT is the one held in November : Term 4, since Nov is year end, and one long year of study (from Jan to Nov) had already passed, before go up to next level.

If schools do not hold in June, never mind.
But should hold it in Nov.
                        Nov one is important.
