• RE: Anyone changed water heater(drum type) before?

molypoly:
My 20+ years horizontal drum type water heater has leaked. Does replacing it with stainless version means it won't rust and hopefully leak-proof (!?).

Appreciation recommendation on:
1) retailer
2) installation contractor
3) estimated cost (item and installation)

Any tips on what to avoid/lookout when buying and at installation? Thank you in advance!
What brand you using?

What brand is good? How much it cost for installation with all the copper piping? Was quote $380 for 2 bathrooms, is it on the expensive side? Can I use back the tap meant for instant shower, or need to be mixer shower?

Is also hard to be parents nowadays. Thought parents should work together with teachers? If leave to teachers to do teaching, then they do not teach much? Hence lots of parents send their kids to tuition, no? :siam:

Intervene by parents also wrong, not intervene also wrong. :lightrod:
Another question, if we were to rent a place near the school, how long do we need to live in that rented unit? Before and after registration. Any idea anyone?

Renting house to stay near school? What happens if the landlord don't wish to continue renting out after a year? What if the current flat cannot be rented out to collect rent, meaning got no money for the rented unit? won't it be risky?

Or got one of those bad tenant who move in the house...then how to move back after six years? 🤷

Dun scare meadows lah... many pple are doing this. If landlord doesn't want to rent to you, you go rent another unit within 1km. Most units can be rented out if the price is right. Dun worry so much.

If kenna bad tenants, just be prepared to reno your own home before you return.
I am more worry about those bad tenants who owe others money and the address is using the rental house address... šŸ˜“ Not sure how to scan tenants, no such experience before.

How about, go to the 2A1 school, then put in waitlist for St Anthony's Conossian Convent?

Meadows:
Dear Parents,
Would like to hear some views from other parents please.
Next year would be my daughter's turn for P1 registration. Im an ex IJ Toa payoh girl and would hence fall under phase 2A1 cos ive also joined alumni. This would also mean 90% of acceptance. The problem is we live in the east and travelling to toa payoh would mean about 1 hour to and fro. By school bus would take 1.5hrs to and fro.

Now our next alternative is St Anthony's Conossian Convent which is much nearer to where we live and each day would probably take 30 mins to and fro.
We would fall under phase 2C if we decide on this school. Historical results showed that applicants within 1km have all been accepted.

Our dilemma now is st anthony's conossian is not as good school as IJ Toa Payoh and it's so wasted to give up a precious seat there. However, the travelling time is really bothering us.

I wonder how would other parents decide? Any other factors we should consider?

I am thinking of starting my kid on how much X% of the kid's pocket money must goes to us, once reach primary 1. :rotflmao:

insider:
My cousins and me agreed on 3 things:
1. Can live near our kids but not together
2. Do up a will stating clearly how our S$ is to be distributed AFTER we have passed on
3. Sign up for AMD

Any other arrangement that we should also consider?

The moment a kid starts work, get them to pay parents (collectively and regardless of whether need or dont need money yet) with below suggested 'instalment % of salary':

Instalment \tSalary\tAmount
5% \t$1,000.00\t$50.00
7.5% \t$2,000.00\t$150.00
10%\t $3,000.00\t$300.00
10%\t $4,000.00\t$400.00
10%\t $5,000.00\t$500.00
12.5% \t$6,000.00\t$750.00
12.5%\t $7,000.00\t$875.00
12.5%\t $8,000.00\t$1,000.00
12.5%\t $9,000.00\t$1,125.00
12.5% \t$10,000.00\t$1,250.00

looks like income tax chart........ but i feel is a good benchmark and i will be very happy if my kid can do the same to me next time (10 years time)
Please find below details on the AMD - Advance Medical Directive.

http://www.moh.gov.sg/content/moh_web/h ... veamd.html

Just print out and have the signing witnessed by the doc and nurse at next medical visit and send it to the address provided. They will send you an acknowledgement upon processing.

Believe the polyclinics can do it as well.
So any doctors can witness? I am thinking of going to family clinic doc.

Grandmother signed AMD in the presence of doctor who explained details.

Medical practitioner means who? Can family GP doctor sign as witness?
