Per my understanding, TJC being an IP school will require all students to attend higher chinese. -
I have just checked NJC, eventhough they are IP school they do have classes doing normal Chinese.

TJC or NJC?
All students in NJC (Sec 1 & 2) take Higher Mother Tongue. -
Surprised? I just spoke to NJC VP this morning. This is what he shared.

15. My child did not take Higher Mother Tongue in primary school, must he/she take Higher Mother Tongue in NJC?
All students in JH1 and JH2 take Higher Mother Tongue (Chinese, Malay, Tamil). Lessons are held in College. The exceptions are Non-Tamil Indian Languages and Foreign Language as Mother Tongue. Students must register on their own with external language centres. Information can be obtained from MOE. -

There is no requirement that students in IP schools must do HCL. It's up to the individual schools to set their own requirements.sushigal:

As the intake in TJC is small, so far based on understanding only HCL is offered to their year1.
