      Hi,

After attending the trial lessons with LNT, i personally like everything that was taught except for 1 thing, the jap language
to me, they are still trying to master english and mandrain, to introduce 1 more language to them is abit tough for both parents and kid

it will be great if they remove the jap language lesson.

anyway, i am still putting on hold my registration with them.

too bad shicida do not have trial lesson.

I think both SM and LNT are linked. Started by the same people I think.

I find SM very very expensive, esp if so much work that contributes to the 'success' is by the parents. Perhaps if the parents put in those hours, with or without such enrichment classes, the result will be the same.

If you try to talk to all the right brain educator u will realize all are the same as long as you do home practice everyday. Why is it ppl compare little neuro tree with SM? How about igenus?

Hi, just a feedback. My son just finished his trial lessons (3 lessons) with LNT @ Bt Timah Plz last week. The trial lessons are $180 ($60 each), which I thought it was ex. But thinking since its only 3 lessons, I could give it a try to test out the reaction of my son.

For the 1st 2 lessons, he was quite interested, could be bcos its something new to him. They have lots of activities, flashcards (accompanied with songs). However, I felt the 1hr flew past too quickly. W/o realising, the class is over and it means my $60 is spent just like this. The consolation is my son seems to enjoy it pretty much and Im comforted that he could do some of the activities.

However, when it came to the 3rd lesson (Jap), his concentration was off and he wandered round the class. I believe it could be due to 1) he doesnt understand Jap (neither does he understand Chinese too) 2) he has gone thru the lessons b4 in the 1st 2 lessons.

What I don’t really like is the lessons are conducted in a cycle (Eng, Chinese, Jap). Its a repetition in general, with some difference in activities. I don’t think the $50/$60 is well-spent if this is going to be repeated week after week, until the next cycle comes. If its cheaper, I prob may consider to continue.

Actually, if you plan to go for enrichment classes you got to get really to spend a lot thn usual. Singapore is so small, yet there are so many prog and so ex plus we have so little time to bring kids around.

My child is attending LNT now… lessons are quite repetitive that its boring me. my girl keep roaming away maybe coz the teachers were not really gd at engaging very young children.

but thats me. one man’s meat is another poison. if you like structured classroom style teaching, den LNT is for you. i personally prefer those that advocate learn thru play. its not easy to make a 16mths old ger to sit at her seat for 1 hr.

signed up coz i believe babies are natural linguist and wana expose her to more languages. sadly, they are not continuing with the jap piece wef 2011…

I personally have experiences with both SM and LNT (Bukit Timah) and honestly I find SM is more fun and engaging for the younger children. I sent my elder DD to SM at age 1 and I could see really good memory skills developing in her. She always wanted to go to classes, participated and enjoy the classes.

For my second DD, I tried to send her to SM at age 1 but wow! SM has a loooong waiting list so she can’t get in. I tried LNT instead and boy, what a big difference! My second DD appears not to enjoy the class, don’t show much development and although the set up of the LNT classes are simlar to that of SM, the method is quite different. I don’t see how the Japanese lesson could benefit at all when we parents don’t even know what the Jap teacher is saying.

Anyways, I pulled second DD out and finally managed to get a place in SM and I see the same development in her as her elder sister…so I guess I’m convinced that SM is much better than LNT…just my $0.02 anyways…

My daughter was once with SM. I didn’t see much improvement. Probably because I haven’t much time to practice with her at home. I guess if you follow strictly with the programme and practice at home with your child, the programme will be very effective.
