Nope, unless at end of year Sec 2 streaming, there will usually be one O level class for weak students in Sec 3 from what I understand.

Thks for the info... So all. Students wil be in IP class till A level. Any case whereby student opt to proceed to polytechnic in yr4? Or have to transfer out if student decided to do so...

IP students themselves know how is it like.

a)
by end of Sec 2 -
If pupils feel that they prefer to go Polytechnic, after trying out 2 years of IP, pupils on their own initiative may switch over to O level, because O level curriculum preparation is heavy : need 2 years to prepare (Y3 and Y4).
If switch over too late : due to insufficient time to prepare O level, schools may not allow them take O level.
Eg : don't reach until end of Y3 and request to take O level.
Schools won't entertain the request, because students can't possibly take half a year time frame, to prepare for O level exam (if switch over, at end of Y3)

For those taking major O level exam -
All Secondary schools Cca must stop, latest by end March / April.
Because after mid year June school holiday end, come July : O level Oral for Mother tongue takes place.

since Dunman High is IP school, they may prefer to seek transfer on their own accord, to another O level school (those full-fledged O level school)

another scenario

another group of pupils interested to go Polytechnic, may continue to remain in IP, up to Y4. They do not seek Transfer to O level.

They use their IP results from (Y1 to Y4) to apply for Polytechnic, at end of Y4. If they succeed meaning Polytechnic accept them, they exit IP programme.

According to Straits Times article, dated 22 December 2011 (3 years ago), written by reporter (Sandra) :-

It was reported that 2 IP SAP Secondary schools
Dunman High, Hwa Chong Institute -
had opened up O level class, for weak IP students.
It was reported that Raffles institution : also starting new O level class

at Dunman High (IP), it was reported that -
At end of Sec 2 :
weak IP students lagging behind are identified, to switch over to join O level class, so as to enable them join Polytechnic or other JCs, after clearing their O level.

Augmum, Dr Foo has been in DHS as long as our girls. I still remember the very first time he gave his speech.


Time has flown so fast n our girls will be graduating next year.
