Thank you Sieg and Rainbowie! Very glad to meet other parents of Victorians.

DS is thinking of joining a UG but doesn't know what to expect. Scouts and Boys Brigade seem like good alternative to the NCC brand. Though it also means spending 6 days out of 7 in school. šŸ˜“

It looks like the tank top is not needed for now. Thanks for the heads up. I heard about the East Coast Park PE lessons too, and I think the boys are really privileged. šŸ˜‚

Thanks for the information on the online portals and databases as well. Will be much needed! Good to hear about the 8.25am start.

It's interesting how the school can bring together boys of different backgrounds and personalities, and create such a strong school culture. I'm not sure what \"Victorian spirit\" means now, but I'm excited to see what DS develops into. Have a good school year, fellow parents! šŸ˜„

Hi Thinkerrr. Very glad to 'meet' you too. :hi5:

You or/and your ds can find out more about the Boys' Brigade UG or others during the CCA fare which should be coming soon.

I am sure your ds will enjoy his time in VS and feel real proud to be a Victorian. :imcool:

For last year, if a S1 pupil (O level track) scored an overall average of below 65%, his parent will need to meet up with the FT on the last day of school.

So please remind you ds to work hard!

              victorian:
Just to share: there will be a once-every-four-years event in 2015 called Victorian Challenge some time in the middle of the year, which is a 24-hour overnight challenge for each class to do something really big. Do look out for it!

Sound exciting! Can shed some light on what 'big' things they can do?

Sure! Without spoiling the fun, the challenge is linked to the number of years since VS's establishment. If I remember correctly, it should be VS's 139th anniversary this year. Past project's include painting large wall murals around the school, collecting 139kg (it was 131kg when this was done in 2007) of toys for charity, moulding 1390 clay figurines, cooking and selling 1390 chicken wings for charity, planting 139 seeds in the shape of the letters \"VS\", creating a 139 min film, etc etc etc. What each class does depends on how 40 boys reach an agreement together. šŸ˜“

Sure sure. Sometimes I am quite amazed with the ideas that boys can come out with. :rotflmao:

My ds was from a co-ed primary school so I can't help smiling whenever I recall him sharing his Homec lessons during sec 1...a class of boys wearing black aprons and colourful bandanas 'whipping up a storm' in the Homec kitchen. šŸ˜‰ Sometimes one of the boys would accidentally crack an egg on the table top 😢 or burn the food.

During their Homec cooking exam, they would work in pair. One of them would take the exam first while his partner would help him in washing and cleaning. The reverse would take place in the following week.
