Sometimes I can get more interesting answers when I take the social route:eg. who's your favourite teacher and who're your best friends in class.

-
Hi Winth
I agree on it.
And he complains that his classmates talk too much liao… Boy
I wonder his classmates is gal more than boy?
Hi sashimi
Did u ask the question, which teacher/children you don’t like? why? will he tell u more about it? -
Addoil:
No, I don't think that's a good idea. But, in fact, my DD will sometimes volunteer that information. Eg. she'll tell me she likes A and B, but she doesn't like X and Y. At this point then I will probe gently a little further.

The idea is to get the kid talking, focus on one thing, then slowly nudge the conversation towards what you really want to know.
Eg. if she answers \"I like teacher A\" then you ask back \"what did teacher A do with you today\"? -
My boy starts to talk alot abt his sch this few days, he told me his classmate A & B very talkative, B & C misbehave in class, what he do during recess. But when I asked abt his sch & wat he learnt, answer still \"fine\", \"nothing\" and \"can't remember\" :faint:

Hi sashimi
of course this is not the good idea to focus on who they don’t like… unless during the conversation, they did mention a bit, sure we will try to find out what was happen during the day. rite?

hi addoil
My boy is P1 tis yr
Ture lor, they will tell you when they are in good mood
I think may be my boy find it 'sian' (bored) abt me asking him the same question everyday since day 1 of sch
-
I think school is so boring to the majority of our children that they are right when they reply, "Nothing!" The lessons do not spark their curiosity nor engaged them intellectually, socially or emotionally.

I've P1 boy too. He does share with me what he did in school most of the day.
This is what we both do every night. After bedtime story from me, is his turn to share his story with me. He'll go on and on.. ie recess time fun, chinese class hypy competition games and etc... untill to a point I've to say:\"enough of the day, your mind need to rest. Sweet dream..\"
Is rather interesting to hear about his friends character, behavior and \"stories\". We even have a good laugh together at times..
I guess this is what I treasure most after a hard day.
