Q&A - PSLE English
-
Hi
Does anyone know what are the situation writing topics that will be covered for psle? For example email, letter writing, police report etc.
Thanks. -
winterman05:
Email and letter writing are the most commonly tested text types in the PSLE in recent years. Students also learn notice, postcard and report, but to a much lesser extent. Actually, there are not really significant differences between the formats of these. The key distinction the students learn is between formal and informal writing.Hi

Most importantly, students must take note of the purpose and the audience of the writing. -

For Q3 & Q4, can we use \"will erase\" and \"will look\"?
Q3. No. The passage discusses ongoing beliefs.
Q4. No. Firstly, ‘… as all uniforms…’ is a subordinate clause. We often write subordinate clauses in the present tense when the main clause is in the future. Think of this example:
You will obtain a high mark in the PSLE as you study hard.
Secondly, you want to capture the regularity of ‘… year after year’ and this is best done with the present tense.
I suspect, however, that most teachers and tutors would, in fact, accept ‘will look’. -
