      Hi Table Spoon,

I do not think NYGH lacks the diversity. My DD is going to Sec 3 next year and she has been quite happy that the school has, from time to time, organized events with participation from other schools like Raffle's Girls, RI, Hwachong, ACJC.

In term of race and culture, my DD informed me that she has friends who are Malaysian, Japanese, Korean, American and Canadian in the school. And we are Vietnamese Singaporean (probably my DD is the only full-fledged Vietnamese student (not exchange student) in NYGH so far 🙂 .

So please do not worry about the diversity at NYGH. And yes, most of my DD's friends are from wealthy families in Singapore but they are quite nice and well behaved.

        Hi,

My DD is Sec 1 this year and next year she will have to purchase an iPad for school. I bought her a 16 GB iPad late last year, not knowing that she needed to use one in school. Now I realise that 16 GB is way too little for school use but I don't want to waste money buying a new iPad. Any suggestions for ways to get more storage space? Thank you so much. I'm at my wits end here 😞

To my knowledge, the apps or projects that take up most space is for videos (iMovies?), follow by Photos and maybe music files.

My girl’s iMovie files size is about 9Gb (about 4-5 projects).

One way is to keep check on the file size of the iMovie projects and move it out after submission.

For students who take up the MOE 3rd language, do they attend lessons in NYGH or externally?

Will the 3rd language clash with sch cca?

Based on my DD's experience, 3rd Lang is held at Newton MOE LC (except for German which is at Bishan). Malay is done in-house. Lessons were on either Mon or Wed. Generally, no clash with CCA, unless special/adhoc programmes. When that happens, students can arrange for make up lessons. NYGH provides one way transport from school to Language Centres (for a small fee, I think, $50 for a year?).

Understand that Yr 1 students can choose betw e-book or hard copy print for Sci (Biology & Chemistry).

                * Which is recommended or more widely used in NYGH?

                * For those who choose e-books, the girls will bring their own iPads to sch? Is the e-book compatible with iPad2 WIFI?

On the registration day, a folder consists of all form and book list will be given to all parents. Book/uniform vendors will also be there.

                      Hope it helps.

I wonder if the existing students who dsa (sports) are coping well given the amount of training (more intensive nearer to competitions) committed ? Will the teachers provide make up lessons for them?
