      Happy new year!

Have been a long time since I posted here as I was really busy both at work and preparing my son for P1.

Today is his 4th day as a P1 kid, I am glad to say that he is adapting the P1 routine much better than I expected. All the worries about him not following instructions, don’t know how to buy food, run away from classrooms did not really happen. He with the help of a buddy was able to buy food for the past 3 days. He could tell me what he bought and how much he spent. He could also tell me what the teachers have been teaching so far. As for following instructions, I am not sure how much he was guided but at least the stuff he told me tallied with other parents who have children in his class. He was also excited to go school. For two days, he made a dash to the assembly hall after I dropped him at the gate. He just said he will miss me but proceeded into the hall with excitement and was worried that he will be late. And feedback from teacher so far has been fine, his form teacher said he seems to be able to follow and knows what to do. I am also glad that the school arranged for him to sit in front rather than at the back as requested.

I am caution of what may come next since the first week of P1 is usually a honeymoon period. But I am already very thankful and hope that he can continue to overcome his difficulties and enjoy his primary school years. I am not expecting him to form close friendships but as long as he doesn’t irritate others and get along well with his classmates, I am contented.

      Jia you everyone!

your girl is indeed an inspiration. From what you describe, she is like another other P5 that I have come across but with a sense of innocence in her.

        Hi Double E,

That is super great news indeed! I am sure your son will be able to cope!

I am still waiting for my son (he just started his K1 class) to be able to share with me what happen in his class everyday. To date, he will only answer me if I ask him. Haiz… Getting our special darling to communicate is like extracting a tooth from the tiger’s mouth!

Hi mummies… If i want to start my boy on gfcf diet, wat kinda milk formula should i give him? So far the only non cow milk based formula sold in sg is isomil. Wondering there r other choices?? I am planning to buy a breadmaker to make my own cake/bread etc to reduce exposure to gluten… Now have to deal with the milk problem as he loves milk.

Hi Tyeogh, Double-E and all mummies and daddies here!

                  How are you?

I just went back to read up Tyeogh's posting in July and saw that his boy was offered a Foundation level year in Pathlight.

My opinion? I would recommend he takes up Pathlight's offer at Foundation level for 2016 and then he will have another year to consider what he would want to do for 2017. Reason being his boy is a year-end Dec boy hence the choice is either to defer P1 and repeat K2; or to go for Foundation year at Pathlight in 2016. Let's say Mr Tai Kor has already decided to put boy #4 at PL-Foundation, then in 2016, he will have the chance to experience PL and see how well is boy #4 progressing then decide whether to continue on at Pathlight for P1-Standard in 2017, or to Kor Kor's mainstream school P1.

                  Best regards,

                  :celebrate:

                  Hi Desert wind,
Yup, Pathlight Foundation year it is. Just bought his Pathlight school uniform and textbooks. He is a Dec 29 boy so yeah...why push it. Thanks for advice and thanks to all who previously advised. How's everyone doing?

                  Tyeogh

My boy is in foundation class too

Today he already kenna a bruise near his eye cos his classmate bumped into him... :gloomy:

But I think our boys will enjoy school cos the kids there all look happy 😄

                    Hi Poohbear85!
Based on my experience, it is better to stop giving milk for a while because other milk does not taste as good.

Other options include rice milk, goat milk, soy milk, hemp milk, almond milk etc. I did give a little milk to my son occasionally but I have read about arsenic content in rice milk, molecules in soy is similar to cow's milk, goat milk is easily digestible but not too good for special needs children. As for almond milk, you can soak it, then blend it yourself and add some honey.

Camel milk is supposed to be the most nutritious milk but it is not easy to have fresh camel milk in Singapore. Camel milk powder may not be as good.

Instead of milk, u may consider boiling a lot of soup for your child.

Too much baked goods are not too good for their guts too so try to go slow with making bread or too much cake. This is a mistake that I made in the past because I was still making gfcf cakes and they can be very sweet.

                    Hope this information helps you.

It is so good to hear that your son is doing well in P1, Double E! :rahrah:

And to all parents including myself, fighting!

Agree with pinkamoon. I stopped giving cow milk n my boy’s health improved lots. I tried nut, goat, camel. Now stick with rice milk only because it is easier to add supp. I have been giving coconut kefir n green smoothie to my kids for past few years. N soup with oxtail n chicken feet for the gelatin to heal gut. Tried bones but result not so good. There r reports on lead issues though. U might want to read up more. So far, my family has no lead issue based on htma.

Tried gfcf but failed. I think imMeeMee did gfcf for a few years ( did I remember correctly? )
Pinkamoon mummy is also one we can ask advice from …
