with hard work, it is possible to achieve an A during PSLE for many because ultimately, the t-score is about fitting the Bell curve and going by history, the
band is quite wide for Chinese.
Many children brought up in a purely English-speaking environment whom I know scored A.
agree the Chi band is v wide
I dun think my ds did well in Chi for psle , but due to the wide band , he took an apple
two of my fren kids who din do MT, did reasonably well last yr 🙂

Thanks for all the suggestions… I also hoped that he can score well in PSLE Chinese… I dun hope for A as his Chinese is really bad…I actually enrolled him in a new Chinese tution hope it will help him…

Yup, I heard that students memorised the 作文 to attain better scores. All sections he also lost marks, esp Comprehension.
1 to 1 tutor, I dun have much lobang for Chinese tutor…
I have been slacking since he attends student care and they drill him as well…
But now starting to feel it liao…and frankly speaking I still dunno how to judge his grades as to which category he belongs to…
Or which school to aim to…
My boy still blur blur when I asked him abt sec sch selections…
I am trying to aim for BPGH but dunno is it mission impossible or at least hopefully express stream. But I heard nowadays 215 cant get much sec sch express stream…so which means must score at least 230?? Faint…
Sometimes I wonder nowadays the kids is so ke lian…have to go through all these stress…in our old times we are not that’s stressed…

DD1 Just finished her school SA2 CL 作文 today. 命题作文: 一件令我感到委屈的事。I was like, huh, so tough. Luckily, she chose the pic one, classical question of theft of purse. Asked DD1 how was it, she said half the class couldn’t finish their composition in time. So scary, told her we need to practice more 作文 before PSLE.

Hi 8228, I myself intend to buy materials for 看录像说话 & am in e midst of collating info for products available in e market. After ur post, I googled & discovered tt e company has posted detailed info on their Facebook page. You may wanna check it out on ur own. Here, I quote some snippets (verbatim).

                Hope this helps.

if school helps to collate the orders from parents/students, that will be best. In that case, it will cost $6 for both CD and book.

However my boys' school will not do that. So I have to personally go down to buy it. And that will be $15.

                  So there are 2 options:-

                  1. For Primary School Oral Guide Book 看录像说话, you may purchase from the Thumbs Up office during working hours at 1000 Toa Payoh North News Centre Singapore 318994. Please contact Thumbs Up office at 6319 1548 before going down the office.

                  2. Please come to 82 Genting Lane, S'pore 349567, level 2 circulation in order to purchase the books. Office hours - Mondays-Fridays, 9am-5pm. Upon arriving, please exchange for a security pass and proceed to level 2. Once you are in the office, turn right all the way. Please call before arriving. Tel 6319 3082

My hubby accidentally bought an extra copy. So anybody wants, pls PM me.

Your DS taking PSLE in 2017, right? I think he should be in good hands with your years of experience as a tutor
Yup. PSLE 2017. Like u say, we got to start working on it this holidays.
