Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Yah, if lose ballot at Maris Stella Phase 2B >2km, you still have St Gabriel’s to apply at.
Cy10, How far are you from SJIJ? -
cherrygal:
Both St Gabriel's and SJIJ are >2KM... my preference is actually a co-ed Catholic primary school and Holy Innocents is the nearest but unfortunately is quite far about 10KM away from my place. For the past years those >2KM were subject to balloting under 2B but surprisingly this year no balloting for 2B at all. Less Tiger babies perhaps? But we will have more Bunny babies next year so I think it will be quite risky. So am putting Kheng Cheng as backup for 2C since it's <1KM. Within 1-2KM there are Guangyang, Pei Chun, Catholic High, Kuo Chuan, Balestier Hill...Yah, if lose ballot at Maris Stella Phase 2B >2km, you still have St Gabriel's to apply at.

Your thoughts Cherry Gal? What other options do I have? -
floppy:
Yes, you are right Floppy. I think CHS is most likely out, too risky... Will look at other Catholic boy schools but others are >2KM... headache... haha Thanks!
You will probably have to consider other Catholic boys' school if that's the direction you are heading as CHS is unlikely to be an option (ballot < 1km). Fortunately, there are plenty of Catholic boys' schools. -
cy10:
If you want co-ed, then go Holy Innocents. It's a SAP school (where they do higher Chinese from P1). Not too sure how bad the balloting will be for Bunnies but just watch HIPS and Maris Stella for the balloting probability. Good that you have Kheng Cheng as a back up at 2C. Ultimately, you still have St Gabriel's as a back up too in case you don't get Kheng Cheng.

Hi, I am new to this forum. My son will be going for P1 registration in 2017. I stay in woodlands. I would like to have your feedback about Evergreen Primary School, Admiralty Primary and Canberra Primary? The first two are within 2 km from my house and Canberra Primary is 3-4 km. My son is best suited where he feels engaged, someone talks to him and explains and not in an environment where is expected to be compliant. I would like to know which of these school you will recommend for a personality like him? Thank you for your time and assistance.

Short of moving house, it can be said with 100% guaranteed that you have no chance at Canberra. So you can eliminate that as an option.
Your chances are not that high for Evergreen and Admiralty also. One or, typically, both of them will require ballot, and often < 1km. If these are the schools that you are after, it's not exactly the issue of which is the best fit for your son but which one is available for selection. My suggestion is to look at one that best fits your son and is available as an option for backup just in case both schools are not available for you. -
Hi,
Am asking for next year’s P1 registration…
Which school is better academic wise?
1. Townsville Pri
2. Teck Ghee Pri
3. Holy Innocents Pri
4. Punggol Pri
The care givers stay in amk while we stay in North-East area. Which schools are better? -
Dear all
Can advise me Maha Bodhi and Temasek primary school, which one is better?
thank you -
apple_ku83:
It's very subjective. To me, the best school is the one that can help my children grow holistically and not just academically. Life beyond school is not just academic, so I never considered schools that are academically-inclined.Dear all
