DSA 2017

Are you OMG or WT? I'm confused. :scratchhead:
What The:
Haha... Indeed. Life is about choices. Hence I mentioned my DS was a dilemma. On one hand, there is a CO waiting for him, with the minimum score of express stream of about 200. On the other hand, there is the uncertainty of T score no matter how well/ consistent he may have performed in school (there are instances of top scorers who scored much less than expected). To others, he may have choose the easy way out by falling back on a CO but I know to him, it was not an easy decision. Hence my advice to apply and accept a school which the child is willing to be studying in for the next 4 or 6 years. To all parents whose kids are trying DSA 2017, enjoy the DSA processes :rahrah:
There's always this option to put ONLY A's WL (and ignore B's CO) if you are more hopeful of getting in via S1.Nebbermind:
Dear parents, DS just finished his PSLE hence I thought of providing some feedback. DSA is a 2 edged sword. DSA is really a great initiative as it relieve the stress of parents and students from the uncertainty of PSLE results, and most importantly, the hassle of screening through 6 choices in the S1 exercise.
However, if your child is consistently showing good results, I would propose only applying for the DSA of only 1 school he really want to go, or even not to apply DSA at all. My son applied DSA Academics of a IP school (School A) he really like, and another IP school (School B) near our place which I proposed. He got WL from School A and CO from School B. He is in a dilemma of his DSA selection - I can sense his worry that his WL may not be converted and he will go into School B, yet after much consideration, he decided to place WL from School A as first choice and CO from School B as 2nd choice.
When the school results came out, he did well enough to go to any school. We are blessed that his WL is converted but there is always a worry that if it is not converted, he will be in School B. After the results are out, I then asked him what if he is posted to School B (I didn't want to add his anxiety in the first place and being a matured boy, he made his own decisions), he told me he will accept the decision and will still work hard.
I want to stress that both School A and School B are good IP schools but there is a preference for my boy. So even if he said he will still work hard, I am sure there will be a certain regret that he could have go into his preferred choice using his T score. And there are \"branded\" Schools which everyone is telling me DS should go.
Parents, what I am trying to say is our child may just be 12 years old, but there is a certain maturity and preference in their mind. We should work out the options with them and make a choice which we will never regret. All the best to your DC for DSA 2017. Without regrets, I will be trying for DSA again in 2018 for my DD but this time, it will definitely a more experienced process. -

Hi hi,
My son will be in Pri 6 next year. Plan to apply DSA for HCI. He does not have any special talent nor special CCA. Applying through academic results. Anyone can share the process of applying? Need GAT? If yes, where can i send him for the test and when. First time doing DSA everything unsure. Hope some kind hearts can enlighten me here. Thanks in advance

HCI does not need GAT, not sure if there will be changes this year. After you submit your application, should your DS be shortlisted, he will go for their inhouse English, Chinese and Maths test, cum interview all in one day. Good luck!Hi hi,

Have you visited DSA 2016 or DSA 2015 thread? It will be good to learn from there. Many generous parents had shared their own experiences and I'm sure you can learn a thing or 2 from there. All the best!Hi hi,

Have a query and hope experienced parents can provide some insight.
I notice that application for GAT test opens in early May. However, it is necessary to input P6 SA1 results to apply for GAT. So does that mean effectively you cannot apply for GAT until you get P6 SA1 results? -
Musings:
The application period for GAT is quite reasonably long - Most schools would have release the SA1 results before the application/ registration close. However, if you wish to apply for earlier GAT test dates (before the release of SA1 results), GAT allows you to apply for it first, before logging in again to update the SA1 results.Have a query and hope experienced parents can provide some insight.
