Can I check if swelling at one side of the neck area (at the thyroid glands) a symptom of thyroid disorder?

Jennifer:

I would think any kind of swelling warrants immediate medical attention of a qualified doctor to confirm the condition.
I did not have swelling.
I experienced a 3kg weight loss, diarrhea, difficulty in sleeping, profuse sweating and hand trembling. -
Jennifer:
Thanks Jennifer.barney:

Went for ultrasound and now waiting for report. Just wanted to check if swelling is also one of the symptoms. -

I read that not everyone will have swelling. -
Asked the doctor and he said blood test usually will be negative, or something like that. It was after reading up this thread then I realised there are different kinds of disorder. Guess I’ll need to ask the doctor more questions when my ultrasound report is ready for review.

After hearing your friend's experience, I better not procrastinate further. -
My understanding for thyroid:
1) Structural: this is tested via ultra-sound. possible to also do biopsy to test whether the nodule is cancerous.
2) Functional: tested via blood test. TSH, T3, T4. symptoms like trembling, sweating etc depending whether it is hypo or hyper.
