[Toa Payoh] Primary Schools
-
woonml:
This school, a well-known school in Toa Payoh, is within 1km from my parents' place. I will need to make a Statutory Declaration to use my parents' address as the caregiver.
woonml,
you must realise that although your parent's place is within 1km from the school, your registration will be regarded as http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=476&start=0.
based on past year's statistics, it shouldn't be a problem if you are applying via Phase 2B. however, in the event the school decides to reduce intake (be it for single session purpose or whatsoever), and that balloting is needed for Phase 2B, priority will be given to those residing within 1km. -

Hi All,
Am thinking whether to enrol my boys to Maris Stella during this year P1 registration. The problem is I heard that they will ask kids to go if they didn't perform well in school. Is this true? My sons are not good in Chinese. Will they have problems if they study in this school? Any comments?
Regards,

Hi GreenQ and shrex,
I have a son who has graduated from Maris, another son who is P5 there and the 4th child who is a boy, will also be attending Maris Stella next year.
Personally, i have never heard of anyone that is being asked to leave due to poor grades. Being a SAP sch, the Chinese standard is high but not as high/tough as some other top SAP schools.
Hope it helps. -
Hi,
I am a newbie here. I want to check if any of you are living in the Tampines(or East side) whose children are studying in Toa Payoh. Are your children tired with the long journey to and from school? If they are taking the school bus, how long is the journey and is there an option for a one way trip for the school bus to bring the child back from Toa Payoh to Tampines? Btw Pei Chun is my alma matar and I am considering whether to send my child there.
Thanks for reading! -
muche, most school buses do provide one-way service, but the price is not going to be half of the two-way serivice. And do note some school buses do not ply to particular locations esp if it is too far from the school. Do call up the school to enquire about the school bus service, whether it serves the location u want. You may also want to refer to the following thread for more related info:

We are Catholics and have been skewed towards SJIJ which is the nearest Catholic school to our place. H/w, judging from past balloting history, we are unsure whether our son will get into SJIJ as we are >2km. So, considering backup plans and Maris Stella is one of them....Hi GreenQ and shrex,
I have a son who has graduated from Maris, another son who is P5 there and the 4th child who is a boy, will also be attending Maris Stella next year.

Could you share a bit more about the standard of Maris Stella? Are your boys happy in school? Are the teachers pleasant and ethusiastic? Anything that you think could be done better by the school?
Appreciate any comments that you may have. Thanks.
