Thank you for your advice.illumine7:
sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but it seems that there isn't an ACS(I) [O' level Track] thread.
Not sure if DS will be get into the IP program, and am worrying if students in O-level track will be given lower priority in the school in terms of teaching etc, or face certain \"discrimination\"
Hope someone in the O' levels track can give some insight.
Thanks!zac77:
I've lost track about the cutoff to IP. But i remember it's there about mid 25x ish. For boys who miss the IP cutoff by just a few marks and you are still aiming for IB, chances are high that your boy can switch from O levels to IP at Sec 3, assuming that he does relatively well in Sec 1 and Sec 2 and has a decent portfolio (CCA,etc.)Hi just to add on to the above question
Would anyone know whether with a T score of 252/253, whether he might stand a chance to enter the IBDP?
Thank you
This is based on the boys whom i know who have made the cut to switch to IP at Sec 3.
O level boys are given opportunities in leadership, etc etc. It doesn't do the sch any good to have rumours going around that O level boys are discriminated.
Personally, if you just want to do O level, pls forget about the prestige part getting into ACSI O level lah. Pay so much school fees for what? Not that the $300-$400/month school fees give a better O level environment. I was told certain affiliate pri sch keep telling their boys must get into ACSI.
But I just want to say that ACSI is known as a top IB school. So you will naturally expect more resources to be pump to maintain the IB standard.
I love the emphasis on zero tolerance for bullying. Sad to see Hodge go.
Looking through the threads as well as the ACSI Open day slides, it seems that historically, 255/256/257 seems to be the cut off score.
My DS is very keen on IB, and as parents, our feel and analysis is that his temperament and learning style is more suited for IB.
Just praying that with a lower score, not too far away from the COP might just edge him thru. -

U can always try the following combination:Hi just to add on to the above question

Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) IB (boys) – 256
St. Joseph’s Institution IB (boys) – 253
Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) O-levels (boys) – 249
St. Joseph’s Institution O-levels (boys) – 244
Then if do not get into IB first try can always try again at the end of Sec 2 -
May I check,
1. What is the total intake for o level express and IB stream?
2. Is the classes divided according to Merit?
TIA -
Hi,
Appreciate any advice on the following:
If DSA WL on Express has been converted to CO, is there any chance of being posted to the IB track?
Would the cutoff of 255/256/257 apply for such cases too?
TIA! -

Hi zac77, may I know what type of \"temperament and learning style\" is more suitable for IB? The sch is one of our considerations too. Thanks!

What would the criteria be for ACS express to enter ACS IBDP at end of Sec 2?
I read that excellent Sec 1 and 2 results coupled with good CCA is needed?
Is there a well defined cut off as to what excellence means? Top 10% for the express cohort etc?
And does an existing ACS Express student stand a higher chance base on his affiliation compared to a non ACSian? -

Hi, I think there are a few issues that have been discussed in this thread before and I do try my best to read through each and every single one of it. These are just my personal opinions, so please don't flame me hor

1. I think being in a Christian environment is something that I value and for others less so. This is multiracial and multi religious Singapore and I am sure that the school does not discriminate anyone.
2. Being able to identify with the school ethos, the mission statements are important. Principals come and come and so do the teachers.
3. IBDP is no less academic nor rigorous compared to the O level track but what is attractive is that the assessment is done differently which appeals to us.
4. Where his friends are going are also important
End of the day, every child is different with different wants and needs
Just pray for the best. -
If I'd like to try my luck getting into the IB program, but be considered for O-levels track in case I can't get into IB, I'll have to put in both choices right? i.e.
1st Choice - ACS(I) IB
2nd Choice - ACS(I) O-levels
Been hearing some rumors that if i put IB as one of the choices , then I (or rather DS) won't be considered for O-levels track
