Hi I’m Xinyi and my brother is in primary 6 (born in 2006), took his PSLE this year. His results came out 230 plus, and he applied to schools that are a few points lower than his actual aggregate, but didn’t get in for all his choices! He went into Whitely sec which is about 188 which is really weird? He applied for Kuo Chuan Sec which was about 232 and he should’ve gone in since his points were sufficient?
So my parents went to ask Pres High admin and tried to appeal into that school but we were told that the schools were confused by this year’s posting too? They said that we were the 27th student and many other students that had ‘okay okay’ results went to schools much lower than their aggregate?
I’m wondering if any of your children experienced this? Because my family is really confused! -

KCPHS COP is 236 this year. If your bro t-score is lower than that, he won’t be able meet the COP (232 is LAST year COP and is only a guide / reference for THIS year’s application). Furthermore, if your bro didn’t meet the COP, his appeal would be rejected.
The statement “he applied to schools that are a few points lower than his actual aggregate” implies that the schools he had applied to are within a very narrow range, i.e within + - 5 of his COP. As such, when COP of the schools that he had selected increased unexpectedly, there aren’t enough buffer for him, resulting in none-of-the-above choice. Had he picked a 220s or 210s as his 5th or 6th choice, he would have meet the COP comfortably and not subject to MOE posting.
There’s nothing confusing about the situation, the system is working as it was intended. -

:congrats: Happy for you!
And @gelfish, it does not matter what her first choice was. I really don’t understand why people harp on must get their first choice or else end of the world. It’s not. Duh. -

I thinks its not just the COP there is still other factors in choosing like their qouta for students for citizen, prs and foreigners -
