      Hi,

I am planning for the next June holiday trip. Can I check if second / third week of June is “safe”? Do the boys need to report to school during these 2 weeks for lessons, CCAs etc? Thanks!
      No lesson.
Different cca different schedule, some coach allow you take leave but some don't. I think only two weeks is quite ok.
There are seminars, workshops, activities inside and outside school all around the holidays, but they are all optional. You can check your availability before signing up.

Hi may I check what types of activities the boys will do during orientation camp?

I Google and saw a past video for year 2000 (year 1 boys) orientation. what i saw was appalling, the boys were made to remove their new pe shirts and used it as a blindfold for themselves. Clearly, some boys appeared uncomfortable about doing so.

What was the purpose that they wanted to achieve in doing such extreme activities? In the name of fun? Bonding and team spirit can also be achieved in a different safer way too.

In the video, the grass was deliberately made wet to become muddy. Plus, imagine the humiliation being made to remove your uniform and walking on the wet surface.

although they are boys, public stripping to me is unacceptable especially for a school event!!

On TOP of that, they had to splash the muddy water all over their school shoes (new shoes for most boys, I Guess). From the video, they were encouraged to hop on the ground create a splash around themselves.

What seemed fun, actually is not. It is more of a sadist activities.

I do hope that this year’s activities will be safe, fun and meaningful for our boys.

How do you expect the new boys to not join in, should there be some activities that they may feel uncomfortable about?

It is easier said than done for parents to say, just teach your Son to say no, etc.

But in reality, how many schools’ orientation activities appeared in the spotlight in recent years. It is up to the school to Ensure that the activities are conducted in a wholesome and safe manner.

For teamwork, one must trust his teammates to achieve the goal. This is one of the teamwork activities. Now they use spare t to cover eyes, no need to strip.

They won't purposely wet the ground or splash, but they will continue their activities no matter muddy or raining(without lightening alert) throughout the whole year, mostly in cca. The purpose is to let them get used to army life, it's good for NS later.

Hi does any kind parent here know if our boys can go ahead to register for their choice third language even though they will be doing another elective (eg MEP/AEP/Galileo etc)? I know the school strongly advises against it but if our boys are really keen and do not want to forego the chance of being offered their choice third language, can they do so?

You may go to moelc to register for third language this Dec. Mep/aep needs test and interview, after you get the offer, the teacher in charge will ask for the withdrawal form from third language. Maybe at this moment you can discuss with teacher. School policy is Only One elective allowed, not just strongly advise against. Galileo is not elective.

So it’s a school policy to be strictly complied with. Thanks much for the clarification.
