Any idea if music and dance schools offer discounts for their course fees conducted remotely?

RE: Raffles Institution (Year 1-4)
Hi may I check what types of activities the boys will do during orientation camp?
I Google and saw a past video for year 2000 (year 1 boys) orientation. what i saw was appalling, the boys were made to remove their new pe shirts and used it as a blindfold for themselves. Clearly, some boys appeared uncomfortable about doing so.
What was the purpose that they wanted to achieve in doing such extreme activities? In the name of fun? Bonding and team spirit can also be achieved in a different safer way too.
In the video, the grass was deliberately made wet to become muddy. Plus, imagine the humiliation being made to remove your uniform and walking on the wet surface.
although they are boys, public stripping to me is unacceptable especially for a school event!!
On TOP of that, they had to splash the muddy water all over their school shoes (new shoes for most boys, I Guess). From the video, they were encouraged to hop on the ground create a splash around themselves.
What seemed fun, actually is not. It is more of a sadist activities.
I do hope that this year’s activities will be safe, fun and meaningful for our boys.
How do you expect the new boys to not join in, should there be some activities that they may feel uncomfortable about?
It is easier said than done for parents to say, just teach your Son to say no, etc.
But in reality, how many schools’ orientation activities appeared in the spotlight in recent years. It is up to the school to Ensure that the activities are conducted in a wholesome and safe manner. -

Pardon my blurness, but how many CCA are the student required to take? What is e diff between core n merit? I m still blur!
Every student takes at least one CCA, his core CCA. Some people, in addition to the one core CCA, also take one or more merit CCAs. Very few people take two core CCAs, both of which are usually sports.
Core CCA is either a Sport, Performing Arts Group, Unifomed Group or the Raffles Debaters. Merit CCA is any other CCA. The only substantial difference lies in the compulsory nature of core CCA, but there are other differences not in the substance like nature of activities, level of commitment, protected training times etc.
Hi ,
Found this old old post from this forum, I am wondering if it is still applicable, with regards to CCA in RI? On top of that, there are those who DSA via sports, performing arts, does it means that those who are not up to standard are unable to join those CCA?

RE: Raffles Institution (Year 1-4)
Those who DSA via academic, science, will they have higher chance in getting the Galileo program? Likewise for math, the Euler program?
If not, then what is the purpose of taking in the students via DSA? -
RE: Raffles Institution (Year 1-4)
May I find out how are classes allocated for new year 1 students, among DSA and S1 admitted students? Would DSA students be grouped according to their domain and the S1 by t score? Or all via T score? Or just random allocation?
Then for the subsequent years? Based on results? Or remain same class for year 1 and 2?
Thanks -
RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)
How do schools allocate classes in Sec 1 for IP schools? If by t score, then those who entered via DSA? Under the individual domains or also via psle score?

RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)
May I also check if they will sort the students according to cop when they enter in sec 1? For both the Raffles boys and Raffles girls school?
Will the GEP students be in different classes from the mainstream? Thanks -

I think you have a good chance getting into RGS. Just make sure DHS is the school that you are comfortable with just in case your choice 1 doesn't work out.
