      Hi,
My daughter is entering P1 next year and we will register under Phase 2C. My daughter is Singaporean.
We still can't decide whether to register her to Northland Primary School or Pei Ying Primary School.
Both school is within 1km from our house.
      Need opinion or advise.
      Thanks in advance.

      Northland, ballot for SC <1km
Pei Ying, no ballot even at Phase 2CS.

You can always choose Northland in Phase 2C, failing which, switch to Pei Ying in Phase 2CS.

      Thank you for the advise.
Will study in Northland stressful for the child? 😓
Is Pei Ying as good too?

Chong fu 2c worth to try? We are within one km and sc. I plan to monitor today and reg Tmr. Worse case go to yishun pri which is within one km too!
Chong Fu probably hot ballot <1km, monitor Yishun if TUR too high, might not have 2CS vacancies. Monitor until last day.

            Hi

if my kid has already secured a place in another school (phase 2A1) but i want to withdraw and try for a much nearer school (<1km), do i have to withdraw physically then apply online or i have to withdraw and register physically for both?

Would anyone also know whether the school would be able to 'update' the number of SCs by distance base on a daily basis ie 29 jul , 30 jul and real-time 31 july for the registrations including those who applied online?

The nearer school has 63 places for phase 2C which is quite a high chance and may be 100% for <1km but also not sure as cannot see the distance base application for previous years..

            1. Withdraw and register in person for both schools.

            2. Some schools will update a white board placed near the registration for the breakdown. Please note that they are not obliged to update the board regularly and the info will never be real time.

            3. Hong Wen's 63 places isn't that different from past years. Slightly better but still at risk. You may have to monitor till the last day before you decide whether to execute the withdraw-and-re-register move. You need to factor in the time taken to complete the admin processes as well as to travel from 2A1 school to HWS. Don't leave it till the last minute.

thank you, floppy. I will call the school or drop by after day 2 to ask about the stats. To be honest I won't even consider this option if not for the fact the 2A1 school is 11km away (by driving distance), albeit one of the top schools. i am wrought with worry that my logistics plan will fail especially if i have to travel for business trips. :?:

It is difficult to monitor stats from school because I do not think the school gets real time data from online registration. So it’s quite a shot in the dark. No point waiting until last day, worst is you do not know how many parents really think they can game the system by registering last day in school, then you appear at a "choice" school and see more than a hundred waiting in queue … and it’s also too late to register online then.

There’s no point to check MOE website for update today. Past years trends all indicate that there’s no update on the first day of online registration. Update will only be tomorrow evening.

this is what i worry too..my friends who executed this withdraw-and-re-register move did it when there was no online registration then so the stats were real-time and updated. Both parents took leave and one plonked themselves at the office of the target school while the other parents waited at the withdrawing school, and executed it within the last hour.

Online registration ends the day before last. You can only register in person on the last day. And on the last day, only schools have the most up to date info. And yes, schools will update / include the registration info from online on the last day.

Register first since already should have a fair idea of which schools you are going for. Can pull out later if balloting odds are really bad. :xedfingers:
How to pull out. Online is register until Wed.. And Thursday for school. Mean now register online. Then Thursday go to the school check the percentage of balloting.. If feel no chance withdraw and go other school to register?
