2010 P1 Registration Exercise for 2011 In-Take
-
Well, I suppose Phase 2C canβt do it that way right? cosβ registration will be on 2-4 Aug and the result will only be out on 13 Aug. I wonder why this takes longer than the other phases. Or will we be able to see how many applicants are within <1 km and how many under 1-2 Km?

I think if u are at the school on the last day of registration you may know something
13 aug is the MOE date when no more changes are made and every vacancies is confirmed (for balloting or otherwise) and the website updated -

ha ha...all this thanks to ksp  :love:hquek,
Your explaination of balloting is wonderful...I'm sure many parents would be able to understand how it goes.
Jellybean,
Many parents would want to be present if balloting is required. I remember checking TV text...just like checking share market then.
To withdraw at one school and register at another requires 2 parents...a very risky thing to do bcos it requires precise timing. -

Last year when visiting a school during P1 registration, noted that that particular school put up number of applicants within 1 parent. So I'm sure schools will know already. Hopefully all other the schools will be kind enough to let parents-more-than-1-KM know prior to registration what their chances can be like.I think if u are at the school on the last day of registration you may know something

With a number of schools converting to parital single session next yr, does this mean that the number of students intake will be greatly reduced?

Entirely likely cos they have space constraints - unless they had embarked on some expansion programmes. -
Agreed with hquek, but to add one more point. MOE will definitely ensure that the total number of vacancies available is more than the expected number of applicants.

The problem is whether the increase in applicants is in the school that I want. Say for thsi shcool, last yr phase 2C shows that ballot is required for 1-2 km, does it mean that I got lesser chance this yr for the same phase and didstance 1-2km? :? -
too many variables in that equation
1. Number of vacancies that school decided to have and endorsed by MOE.
2. Number of applicants in earlier phases (this itself is a compound of a lot of factors)
3. Number of applicants in phase 2C and the proximity they are to the school
4. Number of SG citizen and PR eligible for balloting
Past years statistics are only for estimating. Every year would be different. -
This will be an interesting year becos 6 years ago, govt announced a slew of measures to increase birthrate. Although the effects of the measures would have taken some months to materialise.
