              Hi all,

Anyone can advise if doing two Science Honours (Chem + Physics) will be very tough-going? Is the Honours curriculum very academic focus or has more research or practical elements? Thanks.

hi, senior here. i know people who take 2 hons but end up dropping one halfway, and there are also people who are still taking 3 hons. so it really depends on your passion for the subject + how you manage the workload on top of your core module workload.

as it is an honours course it will be more intense/rigorous compared to major. a lot of independent learning may be required because the teachers tend to move very fast. honours curriculum covers some university year 1/2 content; it's quite academic-focused in nature. there will be practicals (especially in chemistry), but don't expect much. little to no research.

all the best with subject specialisation 🙂

Does the school require students to own a notebook/iPad as study aid?

Notebook and iPad is not required but have to be able to do e-learning and project work online.

Just to add on to that post concerning honours, most of the time students are not suggested to take more than 2 honours due to workload issues. Moreover, most of these honours students are quite good at their subjects and take the olympaids. The timetable is unable to fit all the time for olympaids so students are required to stay back after school for olympaid. E.g. Chemistry olympaid from 4.30pm to 6pm on Thursdays and 7pm-8pm on Thursdays. So you should balance your time. Chemistry honours is a subject that you will have to spend a lot of time on to memorise organic equations and physics honours is basically calculus mathematics.

Wonder if there are still parents who didn’t provide a Hp to their child who are in NUSH?
