Dear mummies who have completed the 四五快读, can I get some advises from you. My daughter has no difficulty remembering characters like 草 风 爸 土 which she can relate to , but characters like 聪 孩 戏 习 she is taking long time to remember and often forgets. Do u all introduce single character or two character to form a meaning to your children? I find that if I will to introduce single character she can make what is the word about . But if I intro two character , end of the day she dun know which character stands for what. Please help.

For characters that she is taking a long time to remember and often forgets, you just have to make use of different methods to get them registered her brain e.g. flashing the character cards, play games, repetitive reading of the passages with the words appearing. The words will continue to appear in subsequent books. So, she may remember subsequently.

          Hi,

For comprehension, my p1 child likes to use her own way of expressing the answer. Most of the time, she could get the gist of the answer. However the answer is often not compete or the sentence structure is flawed. Morever there are many words she does not know how to write as well…

I have asked her to lift the answer from the passage as advised d by some tutors for lower primary. However she can be v stubborn and retorted that for english compre, they are taught not to lift from the passage.

Partly I think it is the writing part which puts her off also…esp when the answer is v long…

any good tips for sharing on how to go about teaching compre to lower pri kids? Esp those who are not particularly strong in the subject.

          many tks.

Sometimes when my DD request for TV time , i will let her watch the Wink to learn speech and drama DVD. I think its very helpful as they can pick up chinese vocab from there.

I work with DS on the chinese websites recommended by school such as Zhishiboa, moe's recommeded chinese website under the student resources and his elearning website etc.

I realized boys cannot sit patiently just to study chinese. As most of them like to work on computer, might as well go to these websites for revisions. I sit with him as a guide and give a watchful eye so that he will not go onto \"other\" websites. Hence nowaday he is more willing to study chinese as it is less \"dry\" now. 😉

He also likes to work on the games after revison. They revises characters learning through a series of short games. DS starting to like the short chinese story. :rahrah:

For me as long as he is interacting with chinese, i am happy.Sometime after we finished, i'll just let him work on other things with the computer for another half hour. I am minful not to let him stay online too long because i am worried he will get addicted. 😓 to computer......didn't want him to stay at the computer all day. There is definitely life away from PC... :please:

                      Good advice!

for my son who has no interest in reading Chinese books. I am hoping this Read and Listen Story will help him to build up his interest in Chinese. A struggling mum who doesn't know how to read Chinese.
