      hihi,

      i am staying:

      1) within 1 km from West Grove
      2) within 1-2km from Xingnan
      3) outside 2km from Rulang

I agree that the culture of the school is very important.
As I believe that character development is much more important than academic achievements.

It seems that I need to do PV if I want to get into either of the school due to the distance and popularity.

Tohwei, what exactly do you do as a PV?
      Are you working as well?

West grove 1 km confirm ballot chances 50/50

rulang pv chances much higherwhich year your child

xingnan confirm 100% shall can get

west grove and xingnan give you a list to tick which area to contribute

rulang divide in to 6 ares
eng, chinese, maths, science, admin, operation and cca etc

among all applicants chose only 45

these 45 is selected by 11 personnels in clude principal, vp and hod admin mgr and operations mgr
then job scope is given by them respectively
me working free lance part time basis

xingnan and rulang better for pv because the hours can be easily achieved
west grove due to many pv you can gonna ihr one week for canteen duties
i strongly recommend xingnan or rulang west grove i don;t think much although the principal ms teresa pang is a wonderful lady but i persinaaly prefered xingnan although i am more than 2km

alternatively if you want single session, go for corporation starts at 8am

if i am you, i will apply rulang and xingnan anyway, rulang still got to go for interview in case unsucessful still go xingnan to fall on

west grove if pv not enough slots, priority given to pv staying within ikm first

            Appreciate all the info... 😄

Would you know whether there is any open house for the schools?

To be honest, I would not be able to commit a lot of hours as PV as working full time (as well as weekend take care of my baby girl) and the fact that my hubby travels extensively during weekday.

If I could qualify for Xingnan without PV, would be great!

what is your email, perhaps i can email the list of xingnan volunteer service for you by the way, for xingnan by 1km the vacancy already clsoed so for your case between one -two chances is nearly zero volunteer is a must i email you a list of the services you can take a look anyway everyyear the same no changes you can start now than finish slowly so far only xingnan got open house, if you ask me other school i will chose coporation only for the single session

              the rest no comment

xingnan pv very easy you commit two hous a week by 6 months case closed my email is tohwei11@singnet.com.sg

                thanks baby.chio & tamarind

I went to Juying Pri. quite impressive with the school and was surprise that 1 of the teacher actually called to explain further. They are single session which is good but it is a little further in and my caregiver will have problem sending/fetching my son for CCA (no sch bus)

Hence, i’m left with only 1 school that is within walking distant… JWPS
base on past history, it is quite popular in phase 2c.

My boy in Juying P1 this yr. I did not manage to get into west grove last yr…… but now feel glad that boy is in Juying.

I find the teachers are very good. All class teachers will bring all students to gate everyday, so some parents will get to see and talk to the teacher everyday (not sure about other sch). They have quite a lot of homework daily and I find the homework is actually quite tough (I compare with my nephew at Bt panjang, same text and prog, only spelling easier). The only thing I don’t really like is the school hours… Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri : 7.10am – 1.30pm Wed 7.10pm – 12.30pm. The silent reading starts at 7.10am… Their remedial lesson starts last month for some weak students (all level but diff day) : 2 – 3 pm.

They organize talk for P1 parents during last yr nov (after the orientation) helping parents to prepare their chn for P1, on the 2nd and 3rd day of sch there’s also talk for parents to attend. There’s also hanyupinyin talk for parents to understand how they teach, last friday there’s a reading prog for parents and their children in the evening.

Overall, I think Juying is quite a good school.

Juying sounds like a good school. I wonder why their single session must start so early ? If they start at 9am, I will certainly go for that school.

I am a FTWM, cannot imagine if my kids must go to school before 7am every morning. That means they must sleep at 8pm every night, and I will only be able to spend very little time with them !
